Amazon Warriors were considered mythical warrior women who sparred with Greek heroes. They are now identified as the nomadic Scythians who lived in Mediterranean areas; whose women fought, rode horses and used bows. They lived in small tribes, where all contributed to hunting, war efforts & defended themselves using the small but powerful Scythian bow. Thru scientific analysis, it was discovered that one-third of all Scythian women were buried with weapons (bows,spears, knives,daggers) and had war injuries providing proof of women described as the ancient Amazons.

Equal in might were The Dahomey Amazons, an all-female military regiment of the Kingdom of Dahomey in Benin; so named by historians after the semi-mythical Amazons. These women soldiers served in the army & reports note that although they suffered several defeats, were consistently judged superior in effectiveness and bravery than male soldiers.
