Please feel free to move this to a more appropriate place - I have started it here because it has to do with the recent update of the mining/smithing rework.

Some of these questions may seem to have obvious answers to players with experience with comparable high end gear - I have never owned any of the T90 armor sets, so I'm only familiar with lower level gear.

-

If I have Torva and convert it to trim, do I get one piece of trim per piece of Torva, as the metal bank description implies, or do I get more trim for bigger pieces, as the update post implies?

If it's augmented, do I get any gizmos refunded, or do I need to remove them first?

Is there a forced progression for masterwork upgrading, or can I do it in any order? For example, can I augment untrimmed masterwork and then trim it at a later point?

Does masterwork degrade even when augmented, as I'm told Malevolent does, or does it only use divine charges, as all augmented items I've had experience with do?

If it degrades anyway, and can be trimmed while augmented, can this be done at any time, or only when fully repaired?

Can repair be done at any level of degradation like all items I've used, or only when completely degraded?

Can untrimmed masterwork be custom fitted?

If not, can trimmed be fitted at any time, or only at full repair?

Can it be done one piece at a time, or must I have a full trimmed set equipped?

No you get the number of essences it would take to smith that armor piece, so 5 essences for plate, 3 for legs, 2 for helm, etc

If it's augmented, do I get any gizmos refunded, or do I need to remove them first?

You'll need to remove gizmos, make an equipment separator

Is there a forced progression for masterwork upgrading, or can I do it in any order? For example, can I augment untrimmed masterwork and then trim it at a later point?

Forced all the way to the end, though you could do just enough bars for a particular piece if you really wanted

Augmented t90 version will be just like your torva, drains charges from your universal charge pack

If it degrades anyway, and can be trimmed while augmented, can this be done at any time, or only when fully repaired?

My guess is fully repaired but i'm not sure, ill leave that for someone else to answer

Can repair be done at any level of degradation like all items I've used, or only when completely degraded?

Any time i think

Can untrimmed masterwork be custom fitted?

No

If not, can trimmed be fitted at any time, or only at full repair?

Not sure, I havent searched much on trim since i don't think i need it

Can it be done one piece at a time, or must I have a full trimmed set equipped?

Full set to custom fit

Hi, thanks for the reply. Let me clarify one of my questions, however:

What I really want to know here is whether I can augment my untrimmed chest and legs, and then later when I acquire enough malevolent energy to make helms and turn them into trim, can I apply it to the augmented masterwork, or will I have to do the business with the separator again first?

Thanks again.

Edit: One more request for clarification. In the invention menu I see options called 'equipment dissolver', 'gizmo dissolver', and 'augmentation dissolver', but nothing called a separator.

Is what I want one of these, or is there another option that perhaps I don't have the invention level for yet?

separator is lvl 115 invent, takes a TON of components, and the item must be over lvl 15

they really should give us special one off item separators that have no restrictions, due to the rework imo

or just make one of the dwarfs do it any time in the next 2 weeks or something

Thanks. Another question then - what do you mean by make one of the dwarfs do it?

I am nowhere near 115 invention, so if there's an alternative that will preserve both the gear and the augmentation on it, that would be good to know about.

I don't know of any other ways, hopefully your perks are easily replaceable. It's a pain, but upgrading from torva to masterwork will be totally worth the little bit of hassle of remaking perks

If necessary that's what I'll do, thanks.

That brings me back to whether I can augment before trimming, though...

Since there's currently a bug when trying to augment custom-fit armour, you are better off trimming, then augmenting and finally customfitting, should you want to do that as well.

Thanks, I had read about that on other threads while trying to figure this out.

What I am wondering, though, is whether the augmentation can be done before the trimming?

I ask because I am nowhere near enough malevolent energy to create that side of the trim, but I'd like to use my masterwork for training invention in the interim. However, I don't want to have to destroy another set of perks whenever I do finally get the energy to trim.

Again, if I have to, I will, but it'd be nice if I could apply the trim to an already augmented masterwork piece.
