I did Curse of the Black Stone last night to reclaim my MQC and came across this very interesting journal Umbral Diplomacy.

The Magister (Oreb) has this interesting message to the Ambassador:

A letter of warning
Dear my lord Ambassador,

You have been discovered. There is a traitor in the Aminishians and they have tipped off the World Guardian. I urge you caution,
the World Guardian is powerful and more dangerous than any soul I have encountered so far
. They have slain me many times and will do so again before the ritual is complete.

They are warded by the dead god Guthix in a way I do not yet understand. They will be immune to your subtle manipulations and it will take more power than you expect to destroy them. Do not underestimate them.

Respectfully,

Oreb, Magister of House Charron

That's interesting because Magister Oreb have come across and evaluated souls including the Gods Itcharlin and Saradomin (who also was a human from Teragard). From Magister's Journal 3, Oreb said Itcharlin could be stronger than Saradomin.

What this mean is Magister Oreb, the master of souls, think the World Guardian may actually be more powerful and dangerous than the false gods like Saradomin! :)

The Ambassador then replied in a letter, claiming he has dreamed of that World Guardian for centuries.

WoW! Looks like the World Guardian is going to be bigger than the false gods really soon as the Story of Gielinor unfolds... :)

Anyway, for now Xau-Tak has retreated and Umbral Diplomacy ends with:

An empty page
It does not matter what happens today.
You have already failed them
.
:D

well thematically i suppose he would have to be more powerful than the gods, because if we wernt, jagex could just end any plot line with "and then the gods noticed and saved everyone"

Nope. The World Guardian is going to let the false gods die.

Umbral is everywhere. False gods failed their elders so badly they are hopeless.

the elder gods didnt create the lesser gods, they didnt even create sentient life of any kind knowingly - to them sentient life is a kind of infection, like herpes, even the false gods

seren and zaros are a kind of exception, but again they were the creation of a half mad retarded elder god, and are probably though of as malformed and broken toys at best by the rest of them

Elder Gods did no intentionally create the false users, but nonetheless they are the by-products of their Elder Artifacts which were created by the Elders.

Whatever problems came from the false users are actually problems created by the Elders although not intentional.

Gods will not save Gielinor. That probably is a given from the hint Jas tasked the World Guardian (and I believe the Dragonkin too) to prove Gielinor is worthy to survive. The Elders won't (and probably are unable to) save Gielinor. They can't even cure infertility and stillborn problems.

Meanwhile, the false users don't have the abilities to save Gielinor. In fact, they won't last long since the 'kin want them dead and Guthix's memory from his Memorial tells the "tribal rivalries - the false idols" must be removed. Days of the false users are numbered. They also can't save Gielinor.

So if Gielinor is going to be save, it must come from the efforts of the mortals and although it isn't completely known what the World Guardian is/was, it is pretty safe to assume he is not a god since Guthix's memory also fortells the afterlife of the World Guardian... and gods don't have afterlife, which Guthix regretted to made such a decision to become a god.
