It's been sad news to hear recently that not only was one of the most requested updates, bank rework, cancelled, but on today's livestream, it was revealed that the loyalty points rework (though mostly about auras in practice) has also been cancelled.

Because of the those announcements, and the fact that dailyscape reductions weren't mentioned in the 2019 introduction (despite being advertised in the past), and the fact that you (Jagex) seemingly haven't been doing anything to reduce dailyscape (rather the opposite, increasing it), can we get a status update on if dailyscape reductions is still something that Jagex is working on, or has it also been cancelled?

I'd really hope not, since dailyscape is a major issue in RS3 right now, but at least you (Jagex) should be honest and open about it and tell us if you're still actually working on it or not.

In one of their last developer Q&A's, they indicated that their goal for now is "any new content, we will try not to add more dailies"

With 1 team focused on M/S for 16 months, another large group of devs focused on getting 2 games on mobile, and all the other BS, I'm not stunned that reducing dailyscape hasn't been a priority.
Heck, with the current gamebreaking bug on Shooting Stars, and the major rework on M/S ... maybe they'll yank that from content.

I recall something along those lines before, but how far back it's tough to say. I also remember how they used to talk about e.g. nerfing caches so that they wouldn't be so OP and thus be less dailyscapeish.

But really, when you think about it, dailyscape reduction isn't as demanding when it comes to the amount of work it takes compared to the other projects you mentioned. Most dailyscape content could just outright be removed: daily challenges, summer/winter/dxp weekends, daily auras etc. They only powercreep the game unhealthily, and the game would be better without them. Unless, of course, it's Jagex's intent to keep damaging the game, hence why this inquiry to know which way it is.

Shame really because reduction of DailyScape is something which can be done as part of regular patching. It doesn't have to be an all-in-one project never to be touched again once shipped. :|

Tbh, I'd prefer they did it as a standalone project, since really, it's mostly just rebalancing, rather than making new assets etc, so it shouldn't be that big of a deal. Of course if they missed something, the missed stuff could be addressed in retrospect, but if you go with the delivery in batches, you get stuff like bank rework: taster delivered, rest of it cancelled, and some people don't care about it anymore because the taster did something to them already.

I wouldn't even consider daily challenges to be part of the problem since you can stack them (up to five) and do them all in one day for the same reward. Just that more content (such as sandstone mining) should follow suit.

Being able to stack them like that can help, but it's not enough: there are so many dailyscape pieces of content, that even if you made all of them able to be stacked like that, it'd still be too much work piled on top of itself for the average Joe to be able to do.

I am personally not really a fan of most of those changes, since they mostly encourage prolonged game sessions to reap the very same reward (especially those to daily d&ds). To be honest: Best solution for daily d&ds simply is adapting the fish flingers system. You get a few daily tickets, but you could accumulate them for a few days. Otherwise convert dailies to weeklies with increased rewards.

Tbf, what you call the best solution is effectively encouraging prolonged gaming sessions for those that can't play a lot/play mostly on weekends; since they don't have the time to play much regularly, their daily tickets would accumulate, and they'd have to just do the dailies more times on the same day rather than across multiple days.

Sure, it'd help them not to miss out on any days by giving them such leeway, but if you truly want to get rid of dailyscape, you have to either change the content to normal content without time restrictions, or significantly reduce the effort required to complete the dailyscape content, such as by changing a daily D&D to a monthly D&D, keeping the reward the same or increasing it. Only then will you actually have more free time from dailyscape to do what you really want to do.
