IMO, January looks pretty decent, but then, it should be: Mining & smithing rework has been promised a very long time ago after all.

February is where the problems begin: another double exp weekend. The economy never gets to recover properly, when said weekends are held so often these days. It'd be much healthier for the game to outright cancel them for a long while, also for the sake of changing summoning from a "train only during dxp weekend" skill to a "train when you actually want to train it" skill.

Beyond those months, I think it's too early to talk about the other updates, since there's a good chance that some of them won't be delivered.

PoH contracts when?

Mod Osborne said:
Player-owned House contracts: build rooms for NPCs – This is a new Construction training method created by Mod Ryan, where you receive construction requests or ‘contracts’ from NPCs. You will then travel to the homes of those characters with your own resources, and you will try to satisfy the terms of the contract. These will be separated into easy, medium and hard tasks, with varying Construction XP rewards. You will also earn points by participating in the content, which will allow the purchase of rewards.

Jagex really seems to love firemaking for some reason, even though other skills could probably make use of that love better, ye. :P

That's it for the year then?

You can keep the rest.
Now what's an unfun environment when you talk to people and see nonsense being said and stuff like that

I don't think they do; they most probably see it as forever a problem that needs to be solved. If the skill wasn't 18 years old along with the rest of the game they'd have probably removed it entirely or completely reworked it into something else by now.

They obviously don't feel like they can safely rip the skill out of the game because tons of players have trained it to high levels, and replacing it with a completely different skill and transferring players XP over to the new skill wouldn't be right either as the players would either be able to skip the new skill entirely or be at a point they have no real incentive to ever learn it.

So they keep on trying to answer the age-old question of "how do we make Firemaking useful?". The problem is, there likely isn't a good answer, and tampering with the skill merely tends to produce additional training methods, or features that are best served elsewhere.

This "incense burners" feature for example: just how many skillers do they expect will bother to carry around the logs/herbs needed to maintain a buff? The majority of players would either not bother, or they'd try to leech of someone else's incense. For most players this will just be Herb Burner 2.0, ie. a really bad way to train Herblore by getting a tiny bit of Herblore XP while you're training Firemaking. In other words, just like other similar updates (like Overgrown Idols for example) it will be long forgotten by the very next month.
