I know I'm a bit late to have finished this quest, but I just...I need some closure.

I really, truly believed Broken Home was just another "You can't do this yourself?" kind of quest, where all I needed to do was go in and yell, "Begone evil doers!" and then get showered with rewards and praise.

But nope. What I was getting myself into was bigger than I ever expected.

Entering that mansion with a Restless Ghost mindset, I saw the ghost girl walk through the door. Oooh! Spooky, right? The most cliché thing of a ghost. The peephole concept was probably up there in terms of scary for me. Despite knowing when to peek, I was always apprehensive when I looked through to the next room.

And then Jagex's first rebuke:
The painting! That poor, petrified woman! Why would you do such a thing!?

After calming down and making sure my chair wasn't broken, I continued, peeking into every creepy hallway in that forsaken mansion. After a while, it was like Dungeoneering, figuring out puzzles and finding keys to doors.

And then Jagex's second rebuke:
A FACELESS woman! Screaming in anguish! And I thought the curtain was terrifying!

Getting out of there as fast as I could, with such a horrifying image burnt into my mind, I reluctantly progressed. Things were really pushing my limits now, and I must admit that I'm a little bit of a wimp when it comes to the horror genre.

Corridor after corridor, I was wincing at every sound, every creak. I was afraid I wasn't going to finish the quest! But I trudged through, and I quickly tried my best to get used to the creepy peepholes and ghostly encounters.

But then Jagex's third rebuke:
A woman screaming at the top of her lungs, literally petrified from fear! That poor woman! Why did you make me do it, Jagex!? I could have saved her! My goodness gracious!

I seriously was on the verge of teleporting out of that mansion the deeper I went. And that mansion went to the depths! I was forced to mountaineer down a dark pit! And just when I thought it couldn't get any creepier, the slyest thing really gave me chills: my name...in that book. After getting what I needed from the deepest parts of the mansion, I did not waste a second climbing back up to the surface.

But only later to be greeted with Jagex's finale:
Chase scenes! Of all the things to end it with, it had to be a chase scene! A terrifying, corridor chase scene! I was totally not ready for that at all!

As the quest drew to a close, though, I had to say it has got to be the best quests I have ever done. It was terrifying to me so much, that I almost forgot I was playing RuneScape and was instead playing a psychological torture game. I really, really enjoyed the atmosphere, the music, the story and the interactivity with the mansion, the characters and the puzzles.

I definitely needed a palette cleanser after hours being in that bloody mansion.

Thank you very much!

It's nice to see you enjoyed broken home so much :) It's my least favorite quest, i cringed and nearly cried in anguish while i was doing it. It's not my kind of quest i suppose
Guthix was right, Gielinor is better off without its gods. I will not leave you, not again, but I will not lead you.

I experienced the same fear as you and I really enjoyed that sense of dread (afterwards ;) )
I really hope they do this sort of quest again

(additionally, I still haven't had the guts to retry the quest for the additionaly rewards ^_^ )
Great quest!

Invention does not count against your level requirement if you have not unlocked it.

I just finished all 3 challenges in one go...man that was grueling!!

I agree though, the quest itself is fun/scary/challenging. Honestly, I thought this was one of the easiest quests to do without a guide though I did end up at a dead end at one point and had to glimpse at a spoiler (I missed the piano room).

If you really want to hate this quest, attempt the challenges! Haha
