No offense, but the time for change has been way overdue. Let's face it, world 42 is one of the most toxic gaming communities on the planet. Elitism at its finest. Nothing will change because world 42 is haunted by the same toxic spectres it has been since like 2013. Runescape 3 is a dying MMO, and most roleplayers have such thick skulls they can't put their arrogance and pride aside for the greater good.

I can name plenty of friends off the top of my head who all suffered bad experiences on w42, almost none of which even play RS anymore.

World 42 also is NOT FUN to play in. A limited cheesy public RP storyline ruled over by people who are toxic as all hell and think they are smartest people ever existed.

Disclaimer: The following views are entirely my own, and do not reflect the views of the RuneScape Roleplay Wiki or its administration.

I’ve been around long enough to observe how things have changed drastically. Almost everyone I know from what I consider the golden years (2008-2013) has retired. Most where just because real life became their priority, and we cannot deny that inevitable reality. But plenty more decided the tribalistic nature we decided to inflict upon the community was not for them.

Now, in 2019, I’m being optimistic here and saying we have 40 to 50 roleplayers left. We’re almost extinct.

You know why the POKs have persisted, despite this community sepsis? Plague carriers are always the last to go.

The POKs are in my opinion the main source of all the bovine by-product we have to deal with. The concept of virtual power in a virtual world, where rulers have delusions of grandeur over what us roleplayers can do and even acknowledge, has turned all our creativity into spite against each other. Land claims, canon disputes, black and whitelisting. All of that, plus the occasional cult of personality and general toxic behavior. It all stems from them.

If you want change. REAL, actual change, then there is only one real course of action in my view.

Dissolve the Player Owned Kingdoms and end the seventeen-year old lineage of politics.

We could return to our older roots, when our individual characters started out in the local inn or general store, and banded together for small and inconsequential adventures across the world. More substantial storylines could always be organised on these forums, and promoted on a community friends chat that everybody would be welcome on. From there, who knows?

But we all know, that there is no serious majority for doing this. Nobody wants to lower their guns first. No sane ruler of any ideology is so willing to relinquish power.

Which brings us nowhere. Frankly, that is just depressing.

Coming from somebody who aligns by and supports the one with the SINGLE WORST lust for power and authority in the entire community and the least complex for understanding that he bears any legitimate fault to anything?

There's 14 at most active roleplayers involved in the main politics of w42. 7 on one side 7 on the other. I don't know where the 50 came from but this place is dead and most are hungrier for power than a muslim zombie on Ramadan. Well, whatever is left on that totem pole.

I don't know how you can look at your own concluded total of 14 people and think it's the "main politics". That's like saying the Green Party is the main political party.

In all seriousness, have you lost your mind?

I only managed to talk rid back into being a pok leader again when we first started working together by convincing him that if he didn't run a pok, we'd only get someone much, much worse instead (this argument may have been flawed it seems, seeing as even with him in charge you also tried to put someone much worse in charge).

All your "lust for power" stuff comes purely from the fact that when some BS, ooc hate fueled attempt to remove him before he'd even gotten started he basically told you to go fish (which is the standard response that the side you seem to be supporting takes every single time they're group is under the slightest threat, legitimate or otherwise).

Even our style of RP is far from the unspeakable thing you constantly try to imply. Might I suggest, in the spirit of "change" that this thread advocates that you simply learn to accept the fact that we are more accepting with our RPs? We don't hate RS lore but we've simply no interest in pinning ourselves to the wall by having the actual gods hanging over us 24/7.

We RP as if they exist, but also as if they balance each other out allowing us lowly mortals to battle it out down on the ground until such time as Jagex decides that one of the gods makes an action.

Maybe there's a suggestion there. Any move made by one god would potentially prompt a response by others and who knows where that might snowball. So with no way of determining what might happen in that situation it might be best to simply say that only Jagex have the right to state the actions takn by the gods themselves.

Ultimately I want a dynamic world that can change, not one endlessly being shackled to the world we started from (I have even heard from some RPers that all our RPs after a certain age should be discarded as they don't fit with how we do things now). If everything we do is tied to that model then why shouldn't new RPers go and join W41 instead or OSRSP? It's cheaper and less toxic and there'd be nothing much different from our own group.

Our unique selling point is our shared history, both good and bad. The battles we all remember fighting in and the poks and groups we all loved being apart of. Seeing this world develop it's own history, politics, stories and social conventions, well that's what kept me interested in W42. I learned a lot here, much of which I am trying to put into the novels I write, among other things.

W42, learn to be proud of your past not ashamed of it. And learn to let the little arguments go and play together nicely. The only thing that really matters on this game is showing each other some respect.

P.S. Poks aren't good or bad, only some of the people that run them are. Calling for them to be shut down is utterly pointless because it will never happen. Niether myself or Rid or gale are about to shut down our poks (which are still producing most of the RP on W42) because you ask us to and even if we did someone else would restart them after we were gone. I see Poks as no more than a convenient scapegoat for some far more complex issues that our community faces. And the more people are convinced not to join them just because they have been demonized, the more we divide this community even further and stop people from getting involved.
