I hate roleplay.

No, but in all seriousness the amount of Blacklisting chatter looks weird, until you know the specifics.

Blacklists suck. I've been on the giving and recieving end, and can say it is one thing I hated being on the recieving end of, in 2014. It was enough I outright despised the term until recently. But things have changed. In 2014, the global blacklist of the WotD was done because we were an inconvenience to the political elite. Having taken a break for most of 2015, and speaking with the people behind it, many freely admitted it. In 2013, blacklists were frowned upon, leading to the term of "not acknowledging" (same thing, nicer wording).

It's 2016 though, and that crazy Nat decided to blacklist some people because they're mean and triggered her SJW tendencies.

But why? Let me shed some light on this where the sun didn't shine.

1) Harrassment of LGBT roleplayers by said group.
"so bad at being his own gender he had to go make a fake one"
"absolute mutant ****** ****"
"mental degenerates"
And then the just plain ugly stuff in Fally square.

As someone falling under two categories there, you can see why I take that seriously. There are so many LGBT people in 42. I can count at least 13 Trans people alone, in our supposedly dead and dying community. Some closetted, some not. But the closetted ones aren't coming out because of how hostile the community is.

But Nat-

BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE!

2) Facebook stalking

Facebook is lovely. I use it mostly to chat with high school and college friends, and know what's new with my friends and family. I have a select few 42ers added, too.

A certain group of 42ers stumbled on my facebook, and started sifting through the pictures, my friend's list, finding out personal details of my life. I locked my page to anyone who isn't on my friend's list, now, but the damage was done.

This isn't the first time said group has done this to someone, either.

So this brings up the question. Should someone be forced to RP with someone who stalks and harrasses them and their friends?

I'd say no. And that's why, fully aware of what a blacklist is like to be on, I stuck a certain group on mine. People may disagree, but the people I roleplay with don't. And that's what mattered to me.

"But you can't just blacklist a whole group!"

But that's the thing. I didn't. I blacklisted the leadership, who while saying concern would be addressed allowed it to continue, and even participated in it. Certainly not the behaviour I'd expect when people who decided to mock them in my clan were disciplined for it. Glass houses can't throw stones.

I can source all information claimed in these past two posts. (And while I won't post it to the forums, will provide it to those who ask after I collect it into a single document.)

And though the idea of taking a step away from 42 is appealing and ordinarily a good solution... It just can't happen when my personal life is involved now.

As for blacklisting people solely due to not liking them? Can safely say there's plenty of people on 42 I find obnoxious and difficult to roleplay with and do anyway. Have for a long time, too. That's called being an adult.

But when someone qualifies to break real world harrassment laws, with being behind a screen being the only reason they aren't behind bars? I've given plenty of second chances. Third and fourths, in some cases. I'm no masochist, I'm not going to sit around and wait to get hurt again.

Alright, now that hostilities have fizzled out a bit...

Dissolving PoKs makes sense, but also doesn't. Asgarnia and Misthalin bith recently had large, huge plots about reuniting. Though, I did plan for Asgarnia to dissolve into looser, Greco-Style city-states postwar, post death of the Queen. But, OOC took ovet and I really didn't feel up to guiding that plot.

General idea would be the Kinshra, Burthorpe, and Falador + South breaking up due to suspicious comcerns ovet the Queen's death and removal of Mother Asgarnia who held even bitter rivals together (by pointing them at someone they hated more, now removed.)

But that's Asgarnia. That's not Misthalin, which doesn't have issues of civil war in lore to play up.

I donít see Misthalin dividing quite as cleanly, or in a way that makes sense given the politics there that I'm aware of.

The Kharid though, certainly needs a good hacksaw.

Menaphites and Al Kharidians may worship the same faith (mostly) but they do so in drastically different ways. Their cultures are distinct,I with Al Kharid being more Ottoman, Pollivineech more Arabic, and Menaphos more Egyptian.

The most glaring difference is Menaphites worship their Pharoah AS a god, while Kharidians, like the North and West, believe in appointment by divine right. With lore hostilities, I donít see why the Kharid is lumped together.

That's not to say of course, a similar "keep the North out of the desert" mentality couldn't exist for a loose, United Kharid Emirates. Think about it, eh? Eh?

Regardless, Gangs are something I love in RP but don't get to toy with. Let's shift from Throne Room politics and get some five families drama going on! Can promise you its an offer you can't refuse.

Religious RP can be hard to manage. It usually goes into other politics with church leaders on 42. I feel though that civilian rp leading to laymen speaking to priests would be valuable rp. Whether this be gangs, mercantile, or adventuring.

Which is my last point. I got a few adventuring characters but no idea what to do to give them quests. Should we work on a system to assign them? An in rp task diary?

As for city-states... How will we ensure the city states remain mostly independent? What's to stop Joe Schmoe from strolling up and making an empire from his city-state?

Would we do things so you can depose a ruler for someone more favourable? Would we do a temporary fix and allow conquest? Would we go Worshippers style and occupy, but never really run for long? With Opposition between the natives and invading force?

These are all things we need to puzzle out before I'm comfortable establishing city-states.

As for the rules discussion...

I have always been a fan of rules over guidelines, while allowing a gamemaster in a plot to bend those rules a little. I'm a firm believer that you get more creative with limits to work with or around them as needed and keep things simple. (Especially with magic, as people have seen from Kat puzzling out new ways to do things with what we already have.)

We also need to sit down and really consider if city-states will work player wise. I know while plenty would love to be a part of five roleplays, I prefer sticking to three at the most, and usually only two actively. How many in the community are like me and prefer a couple roots? How many like big, broad horizons in a half dozen clans?

I also feel due to recent events, the Roleplay Guide may need a new upkeeper. Many suggested one written by and for the community, which is what I left. Conor, Dan, and I sat and spoke about what people wanted to make a two page crash course. But a person who gets hidden messages may need to be reconsidered

Bringing the old guide back isn't really a great idea. Plenty in it, from clockwork limbs to crossbow grenade launchers is not only outdated, but it took too much space and had a tendency to babble in it.

People decided fairly unanimously it was too big, and voted to downsize it. After working with a few community members we made a compact guide that fit on two pages, and conveyed the information a new roleplayer desperately needed. People would need to decide again if they want to blow the dust off an old thing or make something new.

Besides that, freelance is dead. How can we revive that? I used to have a great time doing that. I think most are a bit sick of the POK circles.

I usually placed a character in Falador bar and sat there roleplaying on my own until someone stumbled in. It usually worked, but since I had leadership duty in a PoK I got too busy to do that (people are relentless with political meetings. I didn't want to do them but every little issue was suddenly the Queen's problem, and anyone less was viewed as an insult.)

After the fact, with all the ooc drama from jist roleplaying? I've been too sick of it to get some bar roleplay going.

Well let's be fair here; Bar roleplay is freelance, but not all freelance rp is bar roleplay. It's a good place to get together, though. Weren't there the weekly rp nights? Do those still exist?

They're off and on. Rhys held them last before he left 42 again.

It was just easiest to do bar roleplay in Falador with all the OOC people right outside of it. I'm tempted to open a general store, and see what happens. Though results may vary.
