Hey!

I hope everyone's doing okay. I'm home from university now, and have found myself with a lot of time on my hands. I've been talking to Stu about getting back into Al Kharid, and our conversations have lead to myself becoming the ruler of Al Kharid again.

I've got a few ideas for how I'd like to run Al Kharid this time. Although I would appreciate as many opinions on it - and people's own suggestions for how it should be ran, or what RP we should do - as I can get, so that the likelihood that people will want to join will be higher.

Idea #1 -
Merchant Lords

Those that watch Game of Thrones should know about the City of Qarth that is ruled over by The Thirteen, a group of thirteen merchants that are recognised as being the "Kings" of various different produce. Spice, silk, copper, etc. I want to try and incorporate trade into the Desert as much as I can, so I'm considering using Qarth for inspiration. Rather than having the Caliphate(/Sultanate) ruled by merchant Kings, I've been entertaining the idea of having a group known as "Merchant Lords". Each lord would be the head of a noble house, a trading family, that specialises in one produce. The group would act as the trade advisors to the Calipha(/Sultana) on matters of trade. Perhaps some more powers could be delegated to these lords? Please let me know what you think!

Idea #2 -
Anyone can be a special snowflake

I want to be give everyone the opportunity to create a new noble house. I'm considering having an application on the thread, when it's made, that would facilitate the ability for anyone to apply to form a new noble house. There would of course be restrictions, possibly that the family must have at least 3-5 OOC members and have a valid reason for being considered 'noble'. This could be trade, age, political power. Maybe a cap should be placed upon how many noble families there should be? What do you think?

Making Al Kharid active isn't an easy thing to do. If you've previously thought about joining, but you've had your reservations: why? What's stopped you from joining? Or, on the flipside, if you have joined before: why? What made you want to sign up?

If you've got any ideas on things that should be done within Al Kharid, please make them known on the thread. I want to make Al Kharid a fun, active roleplay for everyone to get involved in.

Thank you for reading, and thank you in advance for your help and ideas!

You may now post!

If you are going to do merchant lords try to give them a twist so that it's not a copy and paste, also i really think there should be more emphasis on the politics of the pantheon within in the region, perhaps some faith movements, just a bit of conflict. Noice.

I find that #1 would be a better idea than a caliphate for roleplay dynamic, I never thought that the caliphate was never particularly looked at in its more religious aspects, but that's just my opinion.

#1 is p cool

Do you have any ideas on what sort of twist you'd like to see?

I like the idea, but imo I don't think there's enough active people in the community to create so many new groups. If it works though, then power to ya'.

Quite a few people left actually, it's more that people have grown bored of Poks' and relating groups and that a lot of groups don't cater to the community, it's a problem.

Also K9 for the twist? i've no idea i guess that's what i mean as i'd like to see one? perhaps one i didn't see coming.
Noice.
