Please add option where user who created thread can block selected people from replying. Or ban them from forums.
There are many people on forums who are only spamming, hating every single thread without any reason.
Community helpers are only hiding their posts, but they keep doing the same.

Every issue has two sides and every negative encounter has an even longer history that made it start.
I think players should be more active in talking it out with each other rather than calling someone out and throw around with tools to ban the other.
Mutes / bans don't do anything good, talk with each other and keep it civil are the best ways to solve issues. :)

People will abuse this to ensure that only posts agreeing with them are allowed on their threads. So, no support.

I'm all for a ignore function on the forums though, one that makes you manually have to view posts from people you've set to ignore.

I am sorry, but does this not go against the very idea of having a forum in the first place?

If you disagree with someone, simply let them know in a polite and respectful manner.

If you are unable to do that, simply avoid responding.

If they violate any rules, report them on Forum Help.

Why is that not sufficient?

I have the same problem at times as what the op has exprienced. It's not that players disagree thats fine, that makes a thread interesting and is exactly what the forums, topics are about - discusion - agree with or not agree with. But there are those that puposefully target certain forumers threads, there are those that spam threads specially if they are in disagreement with op or another poster. There are those that leave disgraceful, or disrespectful post often nothing to do with the topic and a lot of it will not be hidden by fmods.

Reporting does nothing a lot of the time <- which is dependent on who the moderator is and who the complainant is.

When offenses occur and nothing is done to remove, it gives the okay to the offender, spammer, troller, hater, victimizer etc <- and this is often what I am battling with in these forums and I know I am not alone.

Reporting should be sufficient, but sadly at times the moderating is not been aheard too.

Reporting never helps at any time as it doesn't solve the issue inside of your head, you still dislike the person after reporting after a moderator did take action and you only hope the next time they again will defend your case.
On the other hand you also have to prevent from feeding a bad situation into an even worse situation, so it also asks of you / require you to keep yourself in control regardless of what happens.

*edit* expect - require

As an example you can check this thread, I think you are able to see hidden posts also.

What is wrong with that thread? Players from both sides being the opposite of each other think that they can win something by chipping away parts of the opposers ideas by starting to bicker back and forward over posts that are made by the opposition.
Both sides fail to understand how Jagex really does work / function, how they receive feedback and process it to make it become a new future update.

Players can disagree completely being miles away apart from each other but it all narrows down that you are able to point out what it will do for The RuneScape Community as a whole, how it will affect the future of RuneScape and what valuable things it will forward.

Jagex never started the adventure with RuneScape to make it an epic version of 'Devious Mud' and let it stay that way forever. Really ..., that way you haven't understood Jagex as being an innovative company alltogether.
Discussions where both sides are bickering each other are as dead as a dead horse that will be eaten by vultures.

Remarkable, in the past, disagree with someone (moderator) simply avoid responding always ended in a locked thread. :)
On the other hand you can violate someone's narrative make it impossible to maintain certainly if multiple players post after each other to attack that narrative.
Even if you disagree with the narrative as a moderator you still can help a player to maintain it as they are the OP of a thread, when the OP is asking for it in Forum Help.
