2.7 Forum avatars
Forum avatars are only available for members and only in RS3. You dress up like you wish to and then go to the photo booth west of Falador. There you take a picture and tada the head is your RuneScape forum avatar. However, you can not use borrowed items for a picture.
2.8 Signatures
Under your forum profile you can find where you can write your signature. Signatures, of course, have to follow the rules. If they don't they can be edited by a moderator. There's an awesome guide about signature making in forum games. You can find it by clicking here. OSRS Newb Help Initiative

3 Code of Conduct
3.1 Introduction
This is where it gets a bit exciting since I'm writing this as a player. Maybe you have already read the Code of Conduct, maybe you have not. Anyways you should read it at least once and every time one of your posts is hidden/threads is locked.
You really should read through the Rules and the Code of Conduct since it can be very frustrating if one of your posts gets hidden. It is definitely worth the read.
3.2 The Rules of RuneScape
You can find the rules here. Read through the whole text before you continue to read here. It is very likely that when you are new you do not know every rule and might not have been known that they were that strict.
Good to know:

3.3 Additional rules for the forums
There are some additional forum rules:
- no quitting threads
- no drop party announcements
- no spam/off-topic
- no hijacking of threads
- no link shorteners
- no naming & shaming
- no (open) discussion about a moderator's decision
- try to avoid backseat moderation
- no begging
- Forum specific rules
You read right. Quitting threads are not welcomed on the forums .There is a small sized exception of this rule- if you write "I'm quitting and this is why", and relate to the RS game then you could possibly post it within rants or game feedback since it contains feedback. The problem with quitting threads is that some people start begging for your stuff which is considered spam and if your thread encourages others to spam it is closed.
Yup, you must not announce drop parties on the forums. But this only counts when you are only inviting to a drop party. Inviting to a drop party after an event is fine.
That one's a bit harder. Not every off-topic-post is hidden. Basically, you need to stay on topic of the thread which is roughly determined by the opening post by the thread creator. This includes but is not limited to: Only commenting on grammar; talking about the player instead of the topic; leading the discussion away from the topic via details discussion. And Spam is basically a post without a concrete meaning. Examples:

No thread-hijacking
This means that you must absolutely not try to permanently change the thread's topic.
No link shorteners
For security purpose, you must not use link shorteners.
No naming and shaming
You must not speak about any account or player in a bad context No matter if you've got screenshots or anything. Screenshots can be manipulated and none of the forums users was there. So no matter what don't write badly about anyone.
No (open) discussions about moderator's decisions
Yeah, you read right. Players must not discuss a mod's decision. This involves recreating a closed thread, reposting an unhidden post or asking why something was locked or hidden. However, you can "appeal" the mod's decision if it was no Jmod. This is done via Forum Moderation Review Sticky in Community home. But I suggest that you rather read section 3.5 what to do if my post was hidden/thread was locked first.
Try to avoid backseat moderation
Backseat moderation means acting like a mod if you are not a mod. This means commenting on a post to be hidden/thread to be locked without you being a forum, Jagex or local moderator. This is important since commenting on rule-breaking within a topic without being a mod may lead to thread derailing. This means that people may start discussing your post, may starting discussing you and the other forumer or the question if a rule was broken.
If you see someone stating that a rule was broken without a green/purple/yellow background you should best not comment on this. Try to comment on the thread and if there has already been a discussion about it within the thread you could try to report it on Forum help. OSRS Newb Help Initiative
