No begging

No begging for real life items or game items is allowed on the forums.

Forum specific rules

There are forum specific rules for many forums. Read them before posting in a subforum. You can find them here:

3.4 What to do if someone breaks a rule?

Don't comment on it. If you are writing for someone a helpful post (e.g.: Someone needs help since he has been phished and mentions the website) you can put a very friendly reminder in your PS.

Anyways you can report it on forum help. You find the forum help thread within the community home section. Very serious issues like breaking real-world laws or someone's life being threatened can be reported to Jagex directly via the highlight feature.

3.5 What to do if my post was hidden/thread was locked

First of all, take a deep breath. It is just a post/thread on an online gaming website.

Then read through points 3.1 to 3.3 of this guide. Take a look at the reasoning. There's (nearly) always a post by a forum moderator or Jagex moderator or Lmod when a post was hidden. This post is meant to explain the reasons. Sometimes the post is a bit behind your post so you need to take a look at the next page for example. Sometimes, if the contents of the threads are too dangerous, the thread is completely hidden and the user in question may receive an inbox message.

Now there's the option that you think the moderator's action was legit and tell yourself to not do the same mistake again or you disagree with the moderator's decision.

When you disagree then the best is to ask why the thread was locked/post was hidden. You can directly jump to Forum Help. This you can do in case you just do not understand why your post was hidden. Ask kindly for an explanation and you might get an answer from a forum mod. Especially when you are new it is more likely that you did not understand something regarding the rules than an FMod hiding a post/locking a thread in error.

However, if you think the FMod's/JMod's/LMod's action was wrong you can post on Forum Moderation Review. Your post will be automatically hidden and be reviewed by a JMod. You normally get a short reply - either sent to your inbox or a JMod post within the thread. This means you have to regularly check the thread after you posted in order to see if there's an answer.

3.6 The forum offence system

There's a nice thread about the forum offence system in Community home. It may be worth a read if you want to know what consequences people face that continuously break the rules.

4.1 Jagex Mods

Read the article of the Support Centre In the following, I'll be only explaining things you can not find within this article. ^_^ In Game Jmods can teleport to every place they want with a coordinate teleport. They can even teleport on top of the water. Jmods can in order to find bugs and things like changing their skills to whichever level they want.

Jmods have an item called " rotten potatoe" that they can use for the teleport or for summoning monsters of every kind (in-game NPCs). Jmods can conjure every item that has been unlocked for Jmods which is every or nearly every item.

Within the forums, Jmods can move threads but they decide whether there's a notice back in the old forum or not. Jmods can close threads in two ways: one-way Fmods can still post, the other Fmods can not. It is the same with hidden posts – they can be hidden for Fmods or not. Jmods can use additional tools when writing a post. Every thread can be bumped by Jmods. The minutes-rule is out of order for them as well as for any Fmod.

Jmods can edit the title of threads. Jmods can ban players from the forums but they can work it out more detailed than Fmods and can extend it to the game for example with an in-game mute. They can also change the duration.

Access to all internal forums (like Pmod and Fmod forums) they have of course as well. They support the mods there.

Jmods convene meetings every now and then. And who what have guessed it? Meetings among Jmods are normal office meetings. With Pmods they meet in the Pmod room This room can only be unlocked by Jmods and can only be entered by Pmods. The place of the room is a secret that no ordinary player shall find out.

Of course, Jmods also meet with the Fmods. However, they don't have an own room. Therefore the arrangement in this case differs.
Good to know: every employee of Jagex, no matter where he/she works, has got a Jmod Account.

Jagex Moderators can edit anyone's post here on the Forums and once that is done, it cannot be edited by the user in question and can only be edited by a J-Mod. Furthermore, if a Jagex Moderator edits a title or hides a post, an F-Mod will not be able to either edit that title or unhide that post.

If a Jmod breaks a rule it has to be treated like a breach of the rules by anyone else. Who claims to be a Jmod that is at the moment playing with his private account should be reported.

4.2 Forum Mods

Read the article of the Support Centre In the following, I'll be only explaining things you can not find within this article. ^_^ Fmods can close threads. This is either because the rules have been broken or because the thread creator wants his thread to be closed.Fmods can make normal threads stickies.

Toxic posts can be hidden for normal users by Fmods. For their colleagues and Jmods these posts are shown red (and its content is shown.* Threads that are in the wrong forum can be moved by Fmods. In the original forum there then still is a blue hint with a link to the thread in the new forum.

Fmods can change thread titles. Concerning bumping, Fmods can see how often a thread was bumped (and Fmods can bump every thread not just their own. Therefore there is no 10min rule for Fmods. )*

For bigger or many rule breakings Fmods can ban a player. (The durations they can choose are 24, 48 and 72h. Regularly you get 48 hours. )* The ban then will be redirected to a Jmod who then decides what action is taken. For example, the Jmod could additionally apply an in-game mute or of course, unban the player.

For discussions, they also have access to Fmod forums (and a forum that both, Pmods and Fmods, can use)*. To discuss important things Fmods can easier contact Jagex Mods.

Threads that need Jmod attention can be reported by Fmods (together with comments and/or questions. After reporting a thread Fmods can receive feedback through a system.*

Fmods have a say when it comes to new Fmods. However, if a person is picked or not is, in the end, the decision of the responsible Jmod. During meetings with Jmods Fmods can, for example, discuss new forums before they are created. They can not change anything directly but they can bring up pros and cons for or against the forum.)*

Rule breaking of every kind done by a Fmod should be handled like rule breaking committed by any other player. In game use the report button. On the forums, it may be best to use forum mod review. If any player tells you in-game that he is a Fmod in sense of "My main is Fmod" you should report it. No matter if it's true or not.

Please note that there currently are enough Fmods so Jagex does not recruit any new Fmods.

()* means that the information may be considered "unverified". You find the discussion about it here. ^_^

4.3 Player Mods
Read the article of the Support Centre In the following, I'll be only explaining things you can not find within this article. ^_^ There's also a very helpful thread about player moderators in the Community Home forum. You can find it here. In the following, I'll only mention things you can neither find in the support center nor in the mentioned thread.

Pmods have got access to extra Pmod forums and to a forum for forum and player moderators. In-game they can mute players for one hour. Their reports have the highest priority. For meetings with Jmods they have access to the Pmod room. Pmods mustn't out themselves as Pmods on the forums since they have no additional tools on the forums and because no one can see on the forums whether someone's a Pmod or not.

When you set your public chat on off or on friends you still see the chat of a Pmod. Only with the ignore list you can make the public chat of (one/) a Pmod invisible for you.

Rule breaking of every kind committed by Pmods is like rule breaking done by an ordinary player. This means you can report it. Wrong mutes needn't be reported since they are checked by Jagex staff automatically.

If a player pretends to be a Pmod in sense of "my main is pmod" then you should report that player because you can not that easily able to relate to it.

There are also some nice facts that I won't mention here since they are only nice to know and have no real value in themselves.

4.4 Lmods

Lmods were designed to be language mods. These are moderators by a third party that should care about the language communities. However, they do not exist anymore in this format.

The current Lmods are employees of Keywords studios and are meant to help Jagex Community Management team. They can be seen as normal Jmods and are meant to get a real Jmod account soon.

4.5 Community helpers

Read the article of the Support Centre Additionally there's a thread about Community helpers in Community Home forum which you can find here.

I have no additions to make to these two sources.

5 Post quality

5.1 Introduction

Post quality is important. The high quality of your posts gives you a good reputation, poor posts do the opposite. But besides that high-quality posts are more helpful than others and make discussions great. In the following, I'll give examples of a poor post, a medium post, and a high-quality post. I will hardly be able to cover every eventuality. Therefore you can see this as the basics.

Good posts always have correct grammar and paragraphs with the right length. You find more about it within the "Basics"-Section of this thread. So let's start.

5.2 Commenting on problems

With commenting on problems I generally mean that you try to help someone. May it be a quest or a skill, payment issues or account help or something technically. I've made a short list on how to fastly recognize a good post or a bad post.

Very poor posts:
- Offtopic posts
- Posts that break the rules

Poor posts:
- bad/wrong grammar
- bad paragraphing
- wrong reply
- referring to the/a player, not to the problem

Medium posts:
- right reply but too long
- right reply but far too short
- the right reply but not with the best information
- reply with useful (general) information but without specific information

High-Quality Posts:
- are neither too short nor too long
- are a specific reply containing the needed information (and maybe some general information, too)
- show a sense of empathy

Since it is easy for me I'll use an account help thread for examples.

So i was at the Ge, And there was a guy named "[Name removed] or something like that spamming "Search [expression removed] on yt and trade me for 25m" (and actually you can look it up and watch the only video there, which description has a fake rs forum website to a 25m giveaway) so i fell for it and had some wifi problems and when i could log in, i was at lumbridge lodestone, got my 98m gp stack gone as well as some runes and some items. Be careful guys, i feel like a total dumbass right now. Is there a possibility to get my stuff back? Provided that i'm giving you the username of the hijacker. Or may i as well go and hang up myself?
