The Well of Guthix
==========

The Well of Guthix is a new feature added to the grassy area near Baxtorian Falls. Players can toss any stack of items, including noted items, (any number, up to the 2.1-billion limit) into the Well of Guthix, and there’s a chance for each item tossed in for the Well to spit back out Mystic Shards of different types.

*Crimson Mystic Shards are given by sacrificing combat-based items.
*Indigo Mystic Shards are given by sacrificing gathering skill resources.
*Magenta Mystic Shards are given by sacrificing production skill resources.
*Amber Mystic Shards are given by sacrificing currencies such as coins, Tokkul, and trading sticks.
Other Mystic Shards are given out uncommonly/rarely, when powerful/rare items are sacrificed:
*Bronze Mystic Shards are given commonly by sacrificing items which are individually worth over 1 million gp.
* Ebony Mystic Shards are given out occasionally by sacrificing unique boss drops.
* Silver Mystic Shards are given out commonly by sacrificing items which are individually worth over 10 million gp.
* Turquoise Mystic Shards are given out uncommonly by sacrificing tradeable holiday items.
* Coral Mystic Shards are given out uncommonly by sacrificing certain exotic items, such as items from Kourend, Fossil Island, or new OSRS-exclusive places.
* Golden Mystic Shards are given out commonly by sacrificing items which are individiaully worth over 100 million gp.
* Rainbow Mystic Shards are rarely given out when sacrificing an item/stack of items worth more than 500,000 gp.
* Clear Mystic Shards are rarely given out as a bonus when sacrificing any item(s). They can be treated as any of the 4 basic Mystic Shard colors.

Mystic Shards are stackable items that are consumed while performing a certain task with a chance to yield a unique reward. For instance, while chopping trees, there is a 25-100% chance (depending on the level of the tree) to consume an Indigo Mystic Shard in your inventory to give a small chance (1 in 1000+) of obtaining exclusive new items.

Mystic Shards can alternatively be offered en masse back to the Well of Guthix for a (smaller, about 1/10th) chance of obtaining those same items. This is the quick-and-inefficient way of doing it, though, and your chances are much better by skilling/killing to use up your Mystic Shards. (Beyond the 4 basic types, the other 6 types of Mystic Shards must be offered back to the Well this way for a chance at items. Clear Mystic Shards can be consumed by doing any experience-granting activity.)

The exclusive new items added by this are totally up for suggestion, but it’s important that they be valuable coveted items in order to make this work. Some ideas:

NOTE: All ideas are untradeable, unless otherwise noted. The types of Shards needed to be consumed to obtain them are noted.

~ Modifier items for all combat types that can modify weapons/armor to give them +3 Level stats. For instance, taking a Level 75 weapon and using the modifier on it will make it a Level 78 weapon with stats to match. Tradeable, weapon is not(Ebony, Amber, and Rainbow Mystic Shards.) Modifier is tradeable, but the weapon/armor made with it isn't. Can undo to get the armor/weapon back, but the Modifier is consumed. (If it's too difficult to code, the Modifier can just modify certain items from a list instead of all of them.)

~ New food/potions that heal-over-time the most of any food, but heals moderately at first. Possibly tradeable. (Any, but best chances when using Magenta/Indigo Mystic Shards.) For instance, food that heals 16 HP, but then heals 2 HP every 3 seconds for 18 seconds.

~ A modifier/upgrade to the Ring of Wealth that gives a boost to receiving unique rare drops from bosses by a small amount (like 1% or 2%) (Amber, Golden, Silver, Bronze, Rainbow Mystic Shards). So with a 2% boost, an item that drops 1/5,000 at a boss would drop with a 1/4,902 chance.

~ Necklace that gives 10% more experience, charged with 100 Mystic Shards of any type and degrades to dust after 50k exp given. (Magenta or Indigo Shards.)

~ Level 58 armor/robes/hide. Tradeable. Can right-click "Upgrade" to bring up interface where you can add 1 Level 68 Upgrade Pack (rare drop from Well) and a matching Level 65 armor component (Third Age/Ancestral) to upgrade it to Level 68 armor. Can also Upgrade the Level 68 armor to Level 78 by using 1 Level 78 Upgrade Pack (very rare drop from Well) and a matching Level 75 armor component. Level 68 and 78 versions eventually degrade to dust, returning the Level 58, 65, and/or 75 armors to you, but destroying the Upgrade Packs. Tradeable. (Any Shards, but Ebony and Coral Shards are best.)

~ Cool cosmetic items (Any Shards, but Coral are best.)

~A new tradeable “rare” item that is available to be obtained only for 6 months before being replaced by another new rare item. (Any, but Turquoise is best.)

~ Mistletoe - a currency given only by the Well, untradeable. Mistletoe is exchanged in various places around the world as a druidic currency, unlocking:
* Unlimited Home Teleport
* Druidic Circle in your POH, granting you a 50% increase in Herblore XP if gained inside the circle
* Unlock Guthixian Ritual Prayer book
* Unlock a Druid in the Wild that will note items for you.
* Unlock a Gnome Terrorbird or Tortoise pet

Some of these rewards must be unlocked (you actually unlock the *ability* to get the reward, not the reward itself) by exchanging Mystic Shards with the Mystic Druid standing by the Well.

~ Weapon Modifiers: 1000 Crimson Mystic Shards, 500 Amber Mystic Shards, 250 Ebony Mystic Shards, 25 Bronze Mystic Shards

~New Food Item: 1250 Indigo Mystic Shards, 1250 Magenta Mystic Shards, 500 Amber Mystic Shards

~Ring of Wealth Upgrade: 100 Coral Mystic Shards, 10 Silver Mystic Shards

~Exp Necklace: 5000 Mystic Shards of any 1 type

~ Armor: 100 Bronze Mystic Shards, 10 Silver Mystic Shards, 1 Golden Mystic Shard

~ Tradeable rare item (have to unlock it each time it changes every 6 months): 10 Rainbow Mystic Shards, 100 Turquoise Mystic Shards

===
Example:

Player A offers 24,000 unstrung yew bows to the Well of Guthix and gets back 8,512 Magenta Mystic Shards, 1 Rainbow Mystic Shard, and 15 Clear Mystic Shards. (This is a random amount.) Player A could go do production skills, such as Construction, to use up these shards, but instead Player A decides to immediately offer all 8,512 Magenta Mystic Shards to the Well of Guthix to get an immediate chance at a reward. He receives 1 of the skilling necklaces mentioned above and a couple of cosmetic items.

FAQ
============

Why do We Need This?

Economically, this gives a huge item sink that the game is lacking. There will be items created by this as well, but it will be massively weighted towards sinking items. This will help the balance of the economy long-term.

===
Why Won't Players Just Buy Items on the GE En Masse to Get A Ton of These Rewards?

Offering the Shards en masse to the Well only has reward rates 1/10th of the normal rate, so this is already inefficient. Also, to begin with, large numbers of items will be used in this way, but the supplies will quickly dry up. This will result in either making the method impractical or making it much more expensive, as the supply meets the new demand with steep price increases on such items. This may have the side effect of making skilling products much more profitable.

The old death mechanics aren't really that good of an item sink. Not many people are dying with 2k rune platebodies lol

Idgaf for rune platebodies. I want valuable PvM drops sunk and risk reinstated so that people aren't farming every boss at maximum efficiency constantly lol.

stfu lmao..

the old death mechanics is only going to cause items to crash due to people not risking items, its not even a decent item sink, stop being bad at the game and hope for a old mechanic so you can sit and hope for free loot.

OT: interesting idea, would love to see item sinks like this come into the game.
