~ New Prayer Book: ~
~ Guthixian Rituals ~
_~~~^~~~_~~~^~~~_~~~^~~~

The Prayer Book we currently posssess is a Saradomin prayer book. However, I envision an OSRS with Prayer Books dedicated to each of the 3 major gods - Saradomin, Zamorak, and Guthix. I've already invented a Prayer book for Zamorak - Hexes, covered here - Hexes Prayer Book.
In this suggestion, I want to showcase the Prayer book of balance, the Guthixian Rituals.

The Prayers range from Level 30 to Level 80.
==================
Access:
The Prayer book will be unlocked either a) by the Well of Guthix suggestion I've made or b) a sequel to the Druidic Ritual quest. In fact, the Well of Guthix could be locked behind a sequel to the Druidic Ritual (would also require Edgar's Ruse) quest, which in turn unlocks the Rituals Prayer book. Either way.

==================
The Rituals:

1) Ritual of Vivacity - Level 30. Prayer drain rate: 1 point every 18 seconds. While active, all experience received is boosted by N, rounded down to the nearest 0.1 XP. N is equal to 5% is the skill is your lowest skill, 4% if it's your 2nd-lowest skill, 3% if it's your 3rd-lowest skill, 1% if it's one of your top 3 highest skills, and 2% for all skills in between. If something would give less than 5 XP per action, this Ritual does nothing. Has a daily limit of XP gained equal to your total level squared, divided by 10, using your total level at the start of the day for the formula.

2) Ritual of Agility - Level 34. Prayer drain rate: 1 point every 9 seconds. While active, Special Attack Energy is consumed instead of Stamina at a rate of 5% Special Attack energy for every Stamina % (so this could give you up to an extra 20% Stamina every 5 minutes).

3) Ritual of the Harvest - Level 40. Prayer drain rate: 1 point every 6 seconds. While active, all experience gained causes a chance to increase the growth stage of nearby crops. (1/200 chance for flowers, 1/400 for allotments, 1/800 for Herbs) Does not activate chance if Prayer has not been active for at least 5 seconds.

4) Ritual of the Relentless - Overhead. Level 44. Prayer drain rate: 1 point every 3 seconds. While active, your maximum damage is reduced by 5 for each attack. However, your minimum hit is at least 5. (You still may miss as normal, though.) If your normal max hit is less than 10, this Ritual does nothing.

5) Ritual of Hope - Overhead. Level 49. Prayer drain rate: 3 points every second. While active, this Ritual gives you 3X Hitpoints restoration. When you stop this Ritual, as long as it was active for at least 15 seconds, you receive 1 second of 50% damage reduction (25% versus players) for every 5 seconds this Ritual was active. The maximum damage reduction time possible is 60 seconds.

6) Ritual of the Forest - Level 55. Prayer drain rate: 1 point every 12 seconds. While active, there is a 50% chance that if a tree would be felled, it is not, also the accuracy of your Woodcutting is slightly increased. Additionally, with each swing at the tree, this Ritual gives the chance (1 in 500) of obtaining a Gnomefeed Nest, which is a birds' nest with a bag of Gnomefeed seeds the gnomes use to feed their baby terrorchicks and tortoises. (A bird must've ran off with the seeds!) Taking 100 of these (not tradeable) to a designated gnome in the Grand Tree will allow you to obtain a Gnome Terrorchick or a Gnome Baby Tortoise pet.

7) Ritual of Protection - Overhead. Level 60. Prayer drain rate: 1 point every 3 seconds. While active, 40% of all incoming damage is negated against NPCs and 30% for PvP. In addition, every 10 damage you receive will add 1 to your Defence level (up to a max of 120). This boost immediately goes away when you stop the Ritual.

8) Ritual of Divination - Level 64. Prayer drain rate: 1 point every 24 seconds. While active, each event where you gain experience and it is active, there is a chance to gain a Clue Scroll (provided you don't already have one), higher-level Clue Scrolls are rarer. (Proposed rates: 1 in 400 chance of Easy, 1 in 800 Medium, 1 in 1,600 Hard, 1 in 3,200 Elite, 1 in 6,400 Master)

9) Ritual of Tears - Level 65. Prayer drain rate: 1 point every 18 seconds. While active, each event where you gain experience and it is active, there is a 1/80 chance that you receive 60 XP in your lowest skill. (You have to "agree" to this the first time you use the Prayer, looking out for the pures.) You cannot gain XP in skills you haven't unlocked yet. This Ritual only works a number of times each day equal to your Quest Points, so if you have 100 Quest Points, this effect can be used 100 times per day.

10) Ritual of Faith - Level 68. Prayer drain rate: 1 point every 3 seconds. While active, each attack miss you have, adds a 1% accuracy increase to your stats while subtracting 1% Defence from your stats. When this Ritual is deactivated, the next attack against you in PvP will drain your opponent's Special Attack bar an equal number to the damage inflicted against you.

11) Ritual of Brews - Overhead. Level 72. Prayer drain rate: 1 point every 6 seconds. While active, potions are automatically decanted into 4-dose potions upon creation if acceptable vials are available in your inventory, with a 20% chance to create a 4th dose when it would've normally been 3 doses. Also, all Herblore XP gained while this Prayer is activated is boosted by 3%.

12) Ritual of Forgiveness - Level 75. Prayer drain rate: 1 point every 3 seconds. While active and actively engaged in combat, your max hit is reduced by 50%, but your HP recovery is 10x faster. When this Ritual is deactivated, your Special Attack Bar is restore 5% for every 18 seconds this Ritual lasted.

13) Ritual of Penance - Overhead. Level 78. Prayer drain rate: 2 points every 3 seconds. While active, all damage you take is doubled. However, after deactivating the Ritual, every 12 seconds you will be healed 22% (rounded down +1) of the total damage you took, until 60 seconds has passed. (This means it'll heal, on average, 10% more than the damage you took..)

----- These "Ultimate" Rituals are designed to be drops from a boss or maybe from skilling.

14) Ritual of Ultimate Agony - Overhead. Level 80. Prayer drain rate: 3 points every 3 seconds. Only usable in PvP. 20% of damage inflicted against you by players is instead drained from your Prayer Points, and then double that damage is recoiled onto all players attacking you.

15) Ritual of Ultimate Balance - Overhead. Level 80. Prayer drain rate: 3 points every 3 seconds. Any attack you make on foes following the Combat Triangle correctly boosts your attacks by 20% damage, but incorrectly reduces your damage inflicted by 20%. Also, any attacks made towards you while this Ritual is active follows the same rules.

16) Ritual of Ultimate Regret - Overhead. Level 80. Prayer drain rate: 3 points every 3 seconds. The more damage you do while this Ritual is active, the higher your rate of damage you inflict, up to 20% above your normal max hit. When this Ritual is deactivated, for every 12 seconds this Ritual was activated, you receive a penalty for 3 seconds where you inflict only half your normal rate of damage.

--------------------
These "Lost Rituals" are meant to be found rarely while skilling. These may be tradeable, perhaps, if balanced. These are TEMPORARY unlocks, valid only for 3 hours of use. They must be re-purchased to unlock after this time period. Consider these "degrading" prayers.

17) Lost Ritual of Sacrifice - Overhead. Level 47. Prayer drain rate: 1 point every 3 seconds, unlocked until 3,600 Prayer Points are consumed using this Ritual. While active and you are actively involved in combat with a Monster at or above half your combat level, any bones you bury will give experience equal to (10(10+N))% of its normal Prayer experience, where N is the amount of damage you've taken in the past 60 seconds. This Ritual must be active for at least 60 seconds before any bonus experience is given (your chatbox will inform you that the Ritual is now in full effect.)

18) Lost Ritual of Security - Overhead. Level 57. Prayer drain rate: 1 point every 6 seconds, unlocked until 1,800 Prayer Points are consumed using this Ritual (calculated using its normal drain rate only). While this Ritual is active and you 1000 coins in your inventory, you can left-click on the overhead icon for this Ritual above your character, which will act as a bank right where you are, at the cost of 1000 coins and 25 Prayer points. Each subsequent use of this banking ability will cost 10 more Prayer points than the previous use, and it resets every 24 hours. Will not operate in the Wilderness.

19) Lost Ritual of Serenity - Overhead. Level 67. Prayer drain rate: 1 point every 12 seconds, unlocked until 900 Prayer points have been consumed using this Ritual. While this Ritual is active and you are at a druid circle, you receive 25% more experience doing most experience-giving tasks. Deactivated/cannot be used if you have already gained 100k extra XP from this in the past 24 hours.

20) Lost Ritual of Sanity - Overhead. Level 77. Prayer drain rate: 1 point every second, unlocked until 10,800 Prayer Points have been consumed using this Ritual. While this Ritual is active and you are wearing 2 or more items showing allegiance to Guthix, all enemies will have tolerance removed and be aggressive towards you.

Yeah, lemme know your feedback. They're definitely malleable and can be adjusted/scrapped altogether. It took a lot of thought and effort to come up with unique prayers to fill a third book, so if you have suggestions, lemme know!

EDIT: I went through and tweaked most of the Rituals. Also added 4 new "Lost" Rituals which "degrade" over time. Feedback appreciated.

Thanks for the awesome feedback! I really appreciate your genuine ideas and concerns, and I have tweaked many of the Rituals in response:

I do want an emphasis of this Prayer book to be helping skilling - and it's actually hard to come up with ideas to help skilling that don't outright break it or the economy, so the skilling Rituals, in particular, have been difficult for me to balance and make appropriate.

For Vivacity, I altered it where it now gives XP based on if it's one of your lesser-used skills or not, and it also has a daily limit based on your total level.

I didn't change Ritual of the Harvest just because "giving more yield" seemed so generic compared to a unique effect like accelerating crop growth. The idea I have for this Ritual is to promote Alching, Fletching, Herblore, etc. while standing near crops, perhaps in Catherby or Falador close to a bank. Notice it doesn't work for all crops, just flowers, allotments, and herbs, and the herbs are pretty rare.

For Relentless, I felt it was just easiest to make the Ritual not work if your normal max hit is below 10.

For Hope, I clarified that you get 1 second of reduced damage for every 5 seconds the Ritual was alive for, and the maximum damage reduction time period you can get is 60 seconds. This prevents standing around an alter building up a shield to PvP for hours with reduced damage.

For Harvest, I gave it a slight boost to Woodcutting accuracy also, hoping that makes it less underwhelming. I actually like the idea of Prayer becoming important and useful for skilling - it's never bode particularly well with me that Prayer is exclusively a combat skill, it could have plenty of uses for skilling also, and if that means players decide to start wearing Prayer-boosting gear while skilling instead of something like Graceful, I think that's a good thing that promotes variety in skilling methods.

continued...

I also changed the Terrorchick/Tortoise pet (I do like them so much, though, so I couldn't get rid of it haha) for the tree having a 1 in 500 chance to drop Gnomefeed seed bags, which 100 of which can be exchanged for the pets. That makes the overall chance 1 in 50,000, but the 1 in 500 keeps the chance of getting "incremental" progress to the pets often enough to keep players hooked. ("Oh man, I have 87 Gnomefeed bags, only need 13 more for the cool pet!" etc.)

I clarified on Divination and Tears that it is based on events gaining exp, not necessarily game ticks.

Also, on Tears, I gave it a daily limit equal to your Quest Points, so that ties it into Tears of Guthix more and prevents it from being massively abused.

Faith I totally changed, as your point about strategy in PvP was a good one - preventing 50% of damage from specs with no strategy required would mess up PvP. I changed it so that each hit adds 1% to your accuracy but takes away 1% from Defence with an added benefit when you deactivate - the next attack in PvP will drain the opponent's spec bar equal to the damage inflicted against you. This can promote some interesting player-flickering strategy in PvP while still allowing the opponent to spec you. Feedback on this one is appreciated because I'm not sure how detrimental this would be to PvP or if it'd be a welcome addition. (I honestly figure without Protection Prayers, this is probably balanced.)

To make Brews a little more enticing, I gave it a chance to create 4-dose potions occasionally. Not sure if that's overpowered, though.

Penance I was concerned with after doing some math because it seemed to show it could be stronger than Soul Split in some scenarios where you take high damage. I tried my best a second attempt to balance it (which is really hard, since HP doesn't use decimals) so that, on average, instead of healing you for double the damage you took, it heals about 10% more.

Any other feedback is welcome!
