Sadly very disappointingly sparse compared to the giant info dump we got last year. There was only a small couple of points i was able to pick out as interesting

Firstly a lore book from a guy who explored leng. First off how on earth did a random guy (i think maybe a fremenik?) manage to world hop to the other side of the universe onto leng and not know where he was?. Secondly that tale of the 1 guy just walking around the planet endlessly is just plain odd, i've no idea where they could go with it

Next up was the whole thing about the shadow realm, fairly different from what i had imagined. It seems like the realm itself isnt naturally there, but exists because of a particular creature that exists somewhere even further back than freneskae and is slowly reaching out world by world. The leviathan they talk about (likely the same ones zaros used to make the shadow power stone) are some kind of giant snake thing. Brings up quite alot of questions about how do the dark beasts fit into it cus they seem to be from the shadow realm aswell. Also how does iaia fit into it since it seems to be very fitting as the shadow planet from the previous universe

Also since this giant snake thing from the deepest depths of space sounds very lovecraftian, could it be something from xau tak?

One final point from that shadow realm bit caught my ear though, was very quick so alot of people could have missed it. They said "the zarosian mages are skilled in 5 crafts, 1 of which being shadows". Dunno if i'm reading it right but that seems to be talking about the ancient elements. However there are only 4 ancient elements we know of (including shadow), whats the 5th? Could be perhaps the wrath rune from osrs and they're keeping the cards open for introducing it as a rune from the ancient elements?

Most likely the miasmic spells, which were removed from the spellbook with EoC.

I have noticed your kind does tend to blindly stumble forward towards danger simply because it exists. What is your word for that?
- We call it being a hero.

Hmm good point there, i forgot about those. I suppose its possible but given it definitely seems rs3 and osrs are coordinating their content to work together without causing direct contradictions, it still would leave the wrath rune as an oddity. Given they went through all the trouble of making a system of how all the elders combined their elements together to make all the runes of today, having a random wrath rune would just seem out of place unless it was coupled into the ancient elements which currently dont have a defined system. Really it is the only place they could put it without upsetting the system they made last year and wrath does seem fitting as one of the dark runes

I had originally thought that the dragonkin came from iaia the shadow planet and where a sister clan to the ilujanka, but a wrath rune planet would also be fitting for them as their home world from the previous universe

We can only guess at this point, i highly doubt they'd tell us either way if we outright asked them =P

they are, yeah, confirmed on twitter by mod jack

and the wrath rune from osrs (i'm pretty sure) is just osrs's version of a blood and a death for surge spells pre-eoc

So they're now making miasmic one of the "ancient runes"? Well this raises quite a few questions if thats the case. Firstly if it is one of 5 ancient runic energies the zarosians used then why did zaros only make 4 power stones/diamonds being of the 4 elemental ancient runes? Why did he leave out miasmic, what makes it different? Could it be more like an advanced/utility rune like nature instead of being a base elemental? Would also imply theres a miasmic rune world in the lower planes if the pattern of the other elements are anything to go from

Plus it still leaves the issue of the wrath rune being a thing. Yeah people will say its just osrs buts very clear at this point they intend osrs and rs3 to be the same world. I mean just look at the osrs prif, it has the exact same layout and geography as rs3 but its just the ground level, whereas the rs3 upper city still fits perfectly over it. Something like a new rune after they went through the trouble of making a whole system of how the base runes combined together to make all the others, i'm sure they would have to come up with some lore reason for its existence and being an ancient/dark rune is the only thing that makes sense

Wrath is not just osrs's blood/death rune cus they also have blood/death runes, this is a rune over them. So maybe wrath is like the ancient magics native "attack rune" (like blood/death), miasmic is their utility rune (like nature) and the 4 ancient elements are the base elements (like fire/earth and so on). This line of thinking could be used to expand on the ancient magics quite a long way if done right

You say it disappoints you, but I rather like the idea of focusing on ingame lore. It kind of gets confusing remembering which things my character knows, and which I know, about the world.

With regards to world hopping, apparently something to do with a "thin place" in a cave. Some sort of one-way portal it seems. Not sure how it works, but they have been really inconsistent with teleporting requirements and ability with regards to universe distance.

I found the guy walking intriguing. Of course, you don't know hes walking over the entire planet, just the bit of it the explorer found (explorer apparently related to the one eaten by the Penance King.

I'm curious as to the cities as well. Could mean Leng wasn't always as Frozen as it was now. Or it was created that way? Or there is a warmer area under the ice....

The realm itself is spreading, but there was no mention of a creature causing it to spread.

The shadow leviathan is not what Zaros used to make the shadow stone, he specifically mentions them as being to risky for him to attempt to go after, so he used 'shadow cracklers" instead which are "individually weak but formidable in numbers"

Dark beasts, as far as I'm aware, have not at all been indicated to be related to the shadow realm. Only information on their origin is that they come from a "darker dimension" which could mean anything.

Iaia doesn't seem to have been said to be a planet at all from the previous universe. The only connection there that I can find is that the Dragonkin feel a relationship to the Illujanka.

The planet is said to have no stars visible, but that also could be for any number of reasons.
