Saradomin is one of the oldest gods (both in universe and in creation in game), and has come a long way in terms of view from a moral paragon to a complex character who can be seen as morally gray (how dark the shade depends on the person). Some people hate Saradomin quite severely. But there's an important question that I feel often gets ignored: Is this hatred more important than redeeming the god, making him a better person?

Seren had an interesting comment on the human-born god:

"Seren: Saradomin means well. Even back in the time of the god wars, he genuinely believed he was doing what was best for Gielinor. Misguided, perhaps. Arrogant, certainly. But there is a genuine sense of duty in his actions. That said, his zeal and inability to recognise the wisdom of others, has meant that he has fallen more and more from his path. He can be redeemed, I believe, but that is more your choice than mine."

J-Mods have also had some similarly optimistic views on Saradomin:

"'Comment From Ziggy Coins I didn't trust Saradomin throughout the quest, I warned him that no good can come of him using the wand, then we he took it off me by force and then caused Owens corruption, that confirmed to me that no-one deserves that power...

Mod Osborne: Then you were proved right! Saradomin is still redeemable - please don't give up on him yet, '"

"'Comment From knddnk2 Does saradomin really feel bad about what he did to the Naragi? Or was he just saying that to get the player to help him?

Mod Stu: I intended for him to be earnest in his response, and genuinely regret the actions of his past. Whether you believe him or not is up to you...'"

"'Comment From Mewzard Given how friendly Sara is to you despite alligiance and how he spoke of Zamorak not needlessly destroying without reason...is Saradomin more reasonable/tolerant than some of his followers believe he is? Would he accept a demon follower if he/she was truly committed to following him? And what does Sara think of his fellow gods? Is he truly "kick all gods out!", are there exceptions, or is that wrong overall?

Mod Stu: I think Saradomin is more reasonable and tolerant than either faction has been led to believe . The ends justify the means. I don't think he would condemn a demon who was committed to his ideals.

Saradomin fights to protect the world from outsiders . If the gods bring violence, then he will return it in kind.'"

The question that comes to my mind is, for both those who like him, hate him, and are more neutral: What should one do? Kill him? Ignore him? Or be the moral Compass who makes him the good god he wants to be despite his flaws?

For those that hate him, I do ask: Would you rather see him die...or let go of that hate long enough to guide him to be his absolute best as a person?

If the mods, if good gods, if they see the good in him despite his flaws, what do you fellow World Guardians see? And what do you want to do?

Most have been pretty clear with how they feel around these parts. I'll do my best to help push him to be a better person.

But I don't think anyone but Sliske and maybe Armadyl will be biting it this time around. Zaros and Zamorak are for sure surviving. Saradomin has Sir Owen 2 and a lot of recent lore is pointing towards us visiting Teragard. Saradomin seems like he'd be a natural fit for a visit there unless Jagex wants to lock it behind FotG and the World Gate. Seren is also tied up with the Elder Gods and seems to be the one who will offer us an alternative to Zaros.

Only Arma seems to be at risk since RoP doesn't even need him according to Raven, and they haven't really done much with him.
We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm.

Really, when Guthix gave me the title of World Guardian, I swore to him I'd protect the world from the gods, but I feel like there's more options than just death and banishment, there are peaceful options for some.

With Bandos and Tuska out of the way (and hopefully Sliske to follow, regardless of his god status), I'm mostly at the point that I'd rather work with the gods to find a peaceful middle ground. If I can help with my council and wisdom to better them as people, then I'd be glad to do so.

I'd rather avoid needless bloodshed if at all possible.

He has had an appearance in one quest where he was interesting, a minor role in another where he came to see why the hell another god's people supposedly attacked his, and then every single other time he is mentioned, he is shoe horned into the role of a bad guy.

I think there is a lot of potential with his character and story arc, but all the shoehorning like that one icyene chick (who was introduced in an event that involved neither Godless or Saradomin ... ?) and making his White Knights behind so much crap means the majority of the fanbase is gonna try and kill him.

Though I follow Seren, I think Saradomin is easily the most interesting deity right now.

It's more of a question if he CAN be redeemed. It's been thousands of years and he's still making the same mistakes, remains as arrogant as ever and still has an anger issue he needs to sort out. If he truly can be redeemed, then I see no reason to deny him this chance. But I can't just sit by idly as he continues to endanger the world. If he wants redemption, he's going to need to find it before I end up killing him. Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. An all encompassing force of evil that will remain ever-threatening and use chaos to make the peoples of Gielinor tolerate each other, grow strong together, and fight side by side against this evil. I am that villain.

Honestly, with today's update, I am only more convinced that he is a danger.

Whereas Armadyl is sitting on his tower, and only bringing a few of his bodyguards, and leaving his people be, Saradomin is literally training an army to take the Stone, by force, if need be. When you talk to him, he is convinced that he is the only one who can control the Stone, when, really, it should be used for knowledge, and nothing else. Sliske, it seems, is the only person who hasn't been corrupted by its power, and he's a complete mad mad. No, the Stone should be hidden from all the Gods, and, given the chance, I am killing Saradomin. He must face the consequences for genocide, murder of the innocent, and blatant fascism.

It will take a lot of work from Jagex to convince me that he is worth redeeming.

All three of them are gathering forces to prepare to take the stone at all costs, all of them have been at war and murdered innocents, hell all three pretty much say the exact same thing. People just read what they want to read apparently. Or did you miss the part where Zamorak is putting on a show to get attention from his followers in preparation?
