Where is this temekel lore coming from btw?

Latest lore I'm aware of comes from one of the lore drops in the new throne room area at the digsite.
oh, thanks, found it :)

it is called 'Letter signed Pontifex Bilrach' if anyone wants to find it quickly

Also, I get the feeling that Temekel wasn't truly alive when Bilrach encountered him in his letter, judging by how oddly he acted. It was probably the Kharid-Ib speaking through him. We know from Diamond in the Rough that it's sentient and capable of that.
I would agree with half of that, I guess

when he still has his head, I'd say there's nothing stopping him from still being him... he's just devoted to Tumeken, and Bilrach implies that's common knowledge, so it's unlikely Tumeken hijacked a mahjarrat for himself
when he... doesn't have a head anymore, I feel like the gem thing is speaking through him. The mahjarrat there seemed pretty sure that decapitating a mahjarrat meant it would be pretty dead

The Mahjarrat have no souls, and therefore no afterlife, so I find it hard for Temekel to have been revived. Maybe the Kharid-ib has some loophole around the nature of the Mahjarrat, like it gave Temekel a soul?
if you're responding to me, I didn't mean he was revived by Tumeken, just that his skull temporarily was, to give a last message. Or maybe temekel is just *that* powerful

saying the mahjarrat have no souls would mean they're robots...
they do have souls, they're just different from normal people's souls

How does that logic work?
your soul is 'you', you are your soul. robots dont have souls, they aren't 'me's. If mahjarrat didn't have souls, they wouldn't be self-aware

if you wished, you could quite safely disregard any problems they have, or turn them into a basic slave race without facing moral issues. You don't go to jail for smashing a toaster you own, so why would anyone but the toaster have a problem with you murdering toasters... it's not like the toaster's a person with feelings and emotions and whatever
even the toaster itself has no problem with you destroying it, because it physically can't have a problem with it, and if the toaster was like 'no, please, i have a family', you'd maybe feel a tad bad but whatever the toaster is saying is just something it's been programmed to say

when you think robots, you will think ai-software created by humans combined with hardware created by humans, but very easily that could be software and hardware created by gods and made of very much the same materials humans are made of

By that logic, a rock would also be a robot.

You are also presupposing that a soul is necessary for a concept of self when, in RS's case, it's only known purpose is serving as the part of a being that persists after death.

You also presuppose that having a soul and being a robot are two mutually exclusive and dichotomous conditions. There's an argument to be had, for example, that a human being could be considered a self replicating biological robot programmed (at birth) with the capacity to store observed data and generate responses based both on the innate programming and the data that was observed.

1 fine. I missed the bit where i said the rock talked to you and did things that might make you think it's self aware
2 well, I guess in rs, no one is self aware since everyone's an npc and the character you control is empty of independant thought, so... yeah, I guess you're right
3 well, you 'could', but I can't. I mean I can assume every other human is like that, which isn't something I want to assume, but I can't assume that for myself... since.. I'm me. Like me-me. Like I'm an actual living being, my friends. Like alive and stuff. Like why can't you see me, I'm here. I'm alive. I am me. Me, I tell you. I'm alive... like... alive-alive, not pretend-alive like you possibly are. *shakes you by the shoulders*
