Very interesting and well thought-out thread. You should try showing it to Jagex if you haven't already! :)

I definitely agree with your decision to change Abbinah's rune to keep it near Kethsi, if only because that's such a great and terrifying concept that it would be a shame to retcon Armadyl's line. It's comparable to if we looked through our telescopes and saw an alien race destroying Venus.

A couple of questions:

What do you make of the fungus and insect worlds mentioned in the fairy echo in the Memorial to Guthix? Guthix believed that they share a common ancestry with fairies, so they presumably originate from Cheanannais, but where would you place them on your map?

You also theorised that Gara-Dul's homeworld is the same as the planet with the singing feline race, but the former is described as having two suns, while Armadyl says the latter's sun, in singular, was growing dark. Could it be that the planet's moon was initially mistaken as a second sun, since it apparently emitted its own light rather than just reflecting it?

You said you believe that the Runespan was formed due to thousands of years' worth of teleports through the Abyss/Hostilius, but Rune Memories gave me the impression that the standard spellbook was the first one to use the Abyss in its teleportation spells, which were created sometime after the first tower's destruction in year 70 of the Fifth Age.

Ariane: Of course! That makes a lot of sense. Teleport spells need to move the traveler through a second plane of existence, in order to bypass obstacles. The teleport spells in the standard spellbook use a plane called the Abyss. It's dangerous and chaotic, but that's not normally a problem because you're only there for a split second. The old wizards' ritual created a link to the Abyss which teleport spells could then use. That's what the power beam is. All our teleport spells use the power beam as an anchor. Something modern-day wizards have never understood, though, is how the connection to the Abyss was made in the first place. That must be what the Red master wanted from the demon. The Key to the Abyss would have been the last thing they needed to create the power beam.

Regarding the void pests, their homeworld is described as being similar to Karamja in terms of climate in A Void Dance:

Player: Is this really what the pest plane is like?
Korasi: Well, from what we can tell from our side of the portals and the air that blows in, yes.
Jessika: The portals themselves are fatal to travel through for anything that isn't a pest. I was researching that just before, well...you know.
Player: That's a pity. I like seeing new places.
Korasi: I fear this is one you will not be visiting. I supported Jessika's research, but I never throught she'd find a way through. Sorry, Jessika, but it's the truth.

Would you say the pests originate from another planet and are able to travel through the void, or is there more to the void than just white emptiness?

Glad you like it :). They do know mapping this out is my pet project cus they used my previous version in last years runefest lore section. I've sent this thread to mod raven and such but as for if they'll take any of it into production, who knows. They tend to keep this kind of thing close to their chest

Hmm i had not read that fairy echo. Taking a look over it we have to consider what guthix meant by "nature worlds". Are they nature rune worlds (cus i'm sure jagex intends each rune to have 100's of worlds but they'll never get around to making that many for every rune), perhaps the moons of the nature world (naragun has atleast 3, maybe guthix has never seen his own planet from above so didnt recognise it?) or did he simply mean worlds with trees and such on them?

He spoke of a dark world with humid jungles and swamps which had a race of sentient fungi, now assuming he's not talking about naragun cus he's recognise that, what worlds does that sound like?

1. Iaia - Strangely it sounds alot like iaia, a dark humid swamp world. He never said this was one of the higher worlds he was exploring, if he took one of the fairies portals here he could have hopped to the lower worlds without realising

2. Jermyn - We know its a dark jungle world near-ish naragun so its a possibility

3. Karamjan world - Maybe a longshot but possible the land here is similar to karamja jungles. Likely the jadinkos come from here but idk about the fungi or ganodermics

4. Naragun's moon - We have 3 of them to fill with 1 theorised to be the gnomes world. A minor race like this could well be put aside to a moon. Heck could be a moon on any world really

5. Yubuisk - An interesting thought, yubuisk before bandos showed up was a thick jungle world shown to have loads of mushrooms. Its on the bik path like naragun so quite possible guthix would come across it scouting his nearby worlds

Overall theres many possibilities for this world, too many to say for sure right now, will need to come back to that one =P

The world he talks about afterwards with the insects seems to me to be cheannanias. He takes note that the insects remind him of the fairies and we know this was the fairies original home world. The fact he then talks about how they had the ability to teleport over short distances is interesting cus the only other race notable for that ability is the imps, who i also placed as a race on cheannanias (looking not dissimilar to fairies themselves). The fact they're noted to be like fairies, have the same ability as imps who are also employed alot by the residents of renmark (eg the snow queen using snow imps) tells me all these are on cheannanais

Take note that this means this cant be the fungi world cus guthix said they where different worlds

As for gara-duls world, given 2 of the gods here have names relating directly to feline species i'm certain its the singing feline world. Now as to why armadyl didnt mention a 2nd sun i think thats a question of the time of these events. Gara dul was the creation of some gods so would likely be very early in the timeline, probably even 1st age or earlier. Armadyl visited this world at the start of the 4th age so alot of time had passed. He noted its sun was dying which it likely wasnt back in the 1st age, and when a sun dies it expands. Its possible the dying sun swallowed the other one, or was blocking it out. Or maybe even the other sun had already died completely within this time gap

Hmm i had always thought the wizard tower was way earlier than the 5th age. Well even if its only 100's of years the theory is still sound. Maybe the strong lifeforce of the demon was whats keeping the charge alive, or even amplifying it over time. Either way i'm still certain the teleports go through hostilus specifically and that this a better reason for the runespan than jagex's "its just another dimension, somewhere, maybe near gilenor idk" XD

Void pests are indeed odd cus as the name implies the void should have nothing at all. The wiki seems to acknowledge this and says "the pests do not inhabit the void but use it to pass through to other planes". So from the sounds of it its similar to our teleport spells being anchored to pass through a point in the abyss, but they have their own system which takes them through the void instead

As to how simple pests managed this, who knows. But it does offer an unusual idea, since they came through the void theres nothing which says they came from our universe. Infact since they appeared here cus guthix cut the border into the void, it sounds very much like they came from elsewhere. They could be hopping between the alternate universes so theres no real way of knowing where they came from. They could have come from one of the darker universes, or a pest ridden one or even from the previous universe to ours. I'll keep it in mind but for now i think theres not enough to place them somewhere yet, or even to say they have a place at all on the map of this universe

Would be cool to advance the void multiverse a bit more, maybe it has its own full map similar to the worlds in the abyss. I could see the area "behind the scenes" from the gower quest maybe being a significant point between all the alternate universes, who knows =P

"Muspell - Lava: The second world Ful made, this is a world with oceans and streams of molten lava instead of water. Easily the hottest and most volcanic place in the entire universe, the fire that rises up from the ground and dances in the sky is said to be beautiful. Home to the muspah and where zammy fled to after the god wars"

Did you mean to say Auspah instead of the Muspah?
