Notable events include: the gods Guthix and Seren arrive to Gielinor; the god Bandos discovers it but leaves it alone; humans, elves, dwarves, gnomes, sheep and cats are introduced to Gielinor; Guthix creates runestones and the humans invent Magic; the Wizards' Guild is founded; Dragonkin create dragons.

1.2.2) Second Age
Ą
The Second Age was one full of war and conflict as gods began to colonise Gielinor, fighting over territory. Most notable of these was Zaros, who attempted to end the other gods' "petty skirmishes" by building a massive empire himself. It began when Guthix went to sleep and ended when Zamorak returned from Infernus and declared war on Saradomin, approximately 2,000 years later.

Notable events include: gods including Saradomin, Bandos, Armadyl, Zaros and Tumeken arrive to Gielinor; races such as Mahjarrat, Icyene, aviantese, demons, centaurs, vampyres, goblins and other Yu'biuskians, Ilujan*a and Auspah settle on Gielinor; kingdoms such as Forinthry, Hallowland and the Kharidian Empire are founded; the Kharidian - Zarosian War takes place; the World Gate is closed; man discovers Runecrafting (may have been First Age); the Fremennik Civil War takes place; Zamorak and his followers rebel against Zaros, whose spirit flees to Freneskae and whose empire falls.

1.2.3) Third Age
Ą
The Third Age was a cataclysmic four millennia that saw the God Wars happen. It commenced when Zamorak returned to Gielinor and declared war in order to get the Stone of Jas back from Saradomin, and ended when Guthix created the Edicts of Guthix and returned to his slumber, ending the wars. The God Wars saw the deaths of millions if not billions of creatures including gods, the extinction of multiple races, and the utter annihilation of many settlements and fortresses.

Notable events include: Zamorak declares war on the other gods; the Zarosian Extermination takes place; gnomes and dwarves hide underground; Lord Drakan and his vampyres invade the Hallowland; the Battle for the Ritual Site, the Fall of Hallowvale, the Battle of Uzer, the Battle of Ullek, the Battle of Annakarl, the Battle of Senntisten, the Morytania Campaign and the Battle of the Godsword, among many others, take place; the Temple Knights and Void Knights are founded; the Dorgeshuun Civil War takes place; Forinthry is annihilated and reduced to a Wilderness; the Edicts of Guthix are formed; the Guardians of Guthix are chosen; Guthix awakes, banishes all gods and ends the wars.

1.2.4) Fourth Age
Ą
The Fourth Age saw the world recover from the wars as races were left without gods' guidance. Most of them soon recuperated and began to build up life anew. Interracial conflicts would often occur. The Fourth Age, which lasted exactly 2,000 years, began when Guthix returned to sleep and ended with the rediscovery of Runecrafting by humans.

Notable events include: the Dragonkin Conflicts occur; heroes such as Arrav, Robert the Strong and Camorra rise; druids create stone circles as a security system for Guthix' cave; Bandos annihilates Yu'biusk; the Battle of Saranthium, the Feldip Hills Civil War, the Thorobshuun - Gnome Empire War and the Battle of Atarisundri, the Elven Civil War and the Battle of Prifddinas, the Burning of Avarrocka, the Invasion of Avarrocka, the Battle of the Plain of Mud, the Mother Mallum Crusade, the Misthalin - Morytania War and the Keldagrim - Troll Country War, among others, take place; the kingdoms of Crandor and Misthalin and Baxtorian's empire are founded; Bilrach begins his descent into Daemonheim; humans rediscover the rune essence mine.

1.2.5) Fifth Age
Ą
The Fifth Age was truly the age of humans as man became the dominant race on Gielinor thanks to the discovery of runecrafting, which started the age. While it lasted only 169 years, abruptly ending with the assassination of Guthix, it was one of the most "action-packed" times in history, not unlike the Third Age (but less armageddon-y).

Notable events include: the Wizards' Tower is founded, destroyed and rebuilt, as is the Mage Training Arena; Delrit* attacks Varrock but is defeated by Wally; the Kinshra, Burthorpe Imperial Guard and ARMS are founded; the Runecrafting Crusades take place; the Battle of Ardougne, the Battle of of TzHaar City, the Great Battle, the Eastern Sea Civil War and the Battles of Mos Le'Harmless and the Cursed Archipelago, the Al Kharid - Menaphos War, the Quin Conflicts, the Burthorpe - Troll Country War, the Battle of Barendir, the War of 164, among others, take place; the events of all quests released before April 2013 (the events of which I am NOT going to list :P) take place; Guthix is killed by the Zarosian Mahjarrat Sliske.

1.2.6) Sixth Age
Ą
The Sixth Age is the current age of Gielinor, which began with Guthix' death and the fall of his Edicts. All quests released after The World Wakes take place in the Sixth Age (until otherwise mentioned), but, again, I'm not going to list all those events here. Noteworthy stuff is that gods have begun to return (with battles breaking out between Saradomin and Zamorak, Armadyl and Bandos, and Brassica Prime and Marimbo), one of the Elder Gods has awakened (and gone on a rampage like a big (and I mean BIG) angry baby), the Ardougne Revolution saw a new King of Kandarin rise, and the Elven Civil War has ended.

1.3) Holidays
Ą
Holidays are celebrated throughout the year for various reasons. Apart from the well-known Easter, Hallowe'en and christmas, there are quite a dew others as well. And even these aren't celebrated the same by all races. For example, Easter for elves is "a season of rebirth, of communing with nature and of understanding the spirit of the world. We celebrate by having crystal eggs grown. These shine with a beautiful light, reminding us of where we came from and of our ties to the world. It is one of our most important celebrations." And around Christmas on New Domina, the Icyene Garlandia would "hear trumpets, remember the strafing of warrior icyene, smell the baking of fruitbreads."

1.3.1) Human holidays
Ą
There are surprisingly few unique human holidays that we know of. The Tribute to Guthix and Diamond Jubilee were one-off festivities so they wouldn't count as holidays, although the former may well return in the future. There are also minor holidays, such as Thanksgiving, which people seem to celebrate by killing and eating turkeys, which the turkeys aren't quite thankful for! (bad pun)

The Festival of the Dead is a holiday that originated on the island of Karamja. It revolves around the celebration of the lives of the deceased, and serves to discourage mourning and grieving.

In Varrock, the Midsummer Festival is celebrated on the longest day of the year. It involves many types of food and drink stands, entertainment such as fire-breathing or acrobatics, musical performances, theatre plays (such as the ever-popular play The Bethrothal of Glarial), jousting matches and mŕlÚes and much more.

1.3.2) Other holidays
Ą
The Bandosian races of Yu'biusk have several holidays, once forced upon them by their sadistic god. These are:

- Bandos Is Great Day (34 Moevyng, 8 Pentember, 11, 12, 13 & 14 Novtumber and "whenever Bandos needs cheering up" ) is there to presumably celebrate Bandos' life and praise his ego.
- Death of the Weak Week (first week of Septober) probably involves massacres of "weaklings", i.e. Bandos' own followers, because he finds that enjoyable.
- Festival of the Fire-Raining Weapons (30 Fentuary) - something with weapons and using them no doubt.
- Mandatory Annual Axe-Fighting Tournament (3 Bennath) is presumed to be a tournament where only axes are used, possibly similar to the Kyzaj, and of course for Bandos' amusement.
- Victory in Gu'tanoth Day (15 Rintra) must be a holiday to celebrate the ogres' "victory" over the skavids in the Third Age, or perhaps over the goblins in the Fourth.
- Kyzaj Tournament (irregular) is a sacred event where representatives, "champions", of various Bandosian races duel one another to determine the leader of the Bandosians (and because seeing his followers being slaughered is considered fun by Bandos). The final round is fought with the kyzaj, a large battleaxe from which Bandos' symbol was derived, forged by the ourgs on Yu'biusk.

The gnomes celebrate King Healthorg the Great Day to pay tribute to the life and achievements of the king who led them through their golden age. Details are unknown, but there is extremely likely to be a culinary counterpart, seeing that the famous chef Deelie invented the Tangled Toad's Legs for this holiday.

The Canifian werewolves instated the Festival of Zamorak as a token of fealty towards Zamorak.

Finally, there are the Gielinor Games, a sports event wherein a multitude of races, divided into teams determined by which god they generally follow (or in the vampyres' case, are loosely affiliated with), participate in various activities, such as resource gathering competitions and marathons around the continent. 2.1) Wars

2.1.1) Al Kharid - Menaphos War
Ą
The gory war between Al Kharid and Menaphos took place some time in the middle of the Fifth Age. The lesser deities of the Menaphite Pantheon successfully tried to patch the hostilities between the two poleis, and in the year 119 the young progressive Pharaoh of Menaphos, who was Apmekian, signed a peace treaty with the Emir of Al Kharid in order to to bring prosperity to the desert. Seeing the war and its destruction ended, Amascut became furious, effortlessly defeated Apmeken in battle (and cursed her), and also "taking care of" the Pharaoh. Nowadays, the peace is "shaky at best" and political tensions between the two powers are high.

When Emir Shah was dying and his son and heir Ali was kidnapped in 169, Ambassador Jabari of Menaphos attempted to establish Menaphite control in Al Kharid on the grounds that there would soon be no ruler in Al Kharid anymore, secretly poisoning the old Emir in order to achieve this, but this plan failed when Ali was rescued. The actual involvement of Menaphos is dubious, however, seeing that Amascut had both kidnapped Ali and sent Jabari, and it is speculated that the Pharaoh is under her influence as well.

2.1.2) Customs Anti-Piracy Campaign
Ą
An anti-piracy campaign was started by the Customs and Excise Office towards the end of the Fifth Age. Previously, they would allow piracy most likely since the pirates wouldn't cause much trouble and paid the office, but the rise of Captain Rabid Jack changed this. Due to his aggression and his fleet's frequent assaults, the office declared war on piracy, instating customs officers at various ports, opening The Rock prison in the middle of the sea and directly fighting pirates in naval battles.

Soon enough, the pirates began to suffer from the office's efforts more than from Jack; therefore, the Council decided to end his reign of terror and attack his fleet at the Archipelago.

The conflict continues nonetheless. In 168, the office attacked One-Eyed Hector's ship, killing most of the crew including Hector himself. His bosun Frank is known to have escaped. In 169, The Gnome's Promise sunk corsair ship The Reaver and nearly captured The Saucy Wench.

2.1.3) Dragonkin Conflicts
Ą
The Dragonkin Conflicts were a series of conflicts that took place in the first century of the Fourth Age. Presumably to cool the rage invoked by the (mis)use of the Stone of Jas during the God Wars, the Dragonkin, most likely the Necrosy{r}tes, began attacking settlements around the world, causing utter chaos.

At some point, Robert the Strong, a tall archer from Teragard who owned a pet panther named Odysseus (random fact because this is the obscure lore guide: his sweetheart was Ilsinor), began researching the 'Kin and discovered that they could be defeated using bane weaponry attuned to them, travelling to Keth{s}i to do so. He eventually drove them back to their castle, where he confronted one of the Dragonkin. In the ensuing skirmish, he narrowly defeated it, although Odysseus had been killed in the process. Locked in their fortress, the Dragonkin would not be able to attack anymore. Meanwhile, Robert was reincarnated as a cat (...yeah).

2.1.4) Jogre War
Ą
The Jogre War was a nerve-wracking conflict taking place north-west of the Karamja Shipyard, where the legendary adventurer Fswe1 massacred several thousands of jogres in an eventually successful attempt to be challenged by their champion.

The Jogre War is an otherwise unspecified conflict that took place on Karamja and is said to have flared up around 5.149. Details are unavailable, but the war prevented Radimus Erkle and his party of adventurers from mapping the Kharazi Jungle around that time.

This means it may have taken place in the Kharazi Jungle. Since there are no jogres there now, it may have been a war between jogres and the Kharazi tribe, with the latter being victorious in the end. Alternatively, it could have been a war involving jogres in the areas north of the jungle, which would have made the entrances inaccessible.

2.1.5) Keldagrim - Troll Country War
Ą
As the dwarves of Keldagrim dug into the mountains, they ran into a colony of trolls living beneath Trollweiss mountain. Since trolls aren't the most diplomatic of species, a bloody war broke out between the two that would last for... a while. The Battle of Barendir can be seen as the height of the war. A very shaky peace was established under King Veldaban's reign in 169 as the dwarves and the trolls united to combat the Red Axe and their chaos army and this peace has more or less persisted.

2.1.6) Kharidian - Zarosian War
Ą
A small border conflict in the Second Age quickly escalated when the Army of Zaros retaliated with full force against the Menaphites, invading the Kharidian empire. Led by Duke Ceres of the Fourth Legion, the Zarosians quickly won territory in the Kharid. The desert gods Icthlarin and Amascut set out to find allies, which they did on Freneskae. The Mahjarrat tribe eventually joined them to RuneScape and with their aid the Zarosians were pushed back to Kharid-et.

However, Icthlarin and the Mahjarrat Sliske had got into a feud due to the latter's methods in combat, to which Sliske joined the Zarosians instead, along with the rest of his kin. The Zarosian army struck again and the helpless Menaphites retreated south. There, Tumeken appeared and detonated himself to save his empire, incinerating both armies entirely, save some hundred Mahjarrat who had been safe under a magical shield, and turning most of his empire into a desert wasteland, but ending the war and saving his lands from more peril.
