Hguoh hit the nail on the head. Remember at the end of FotG where he ordered Nex to keep the god fighting under control (so much for that) and Char to find the stone (that went no where).

Plus It's heavily implied that he promised Armadyl to protect the Avianese, he wouldn't have made that deal if that stone was going to be used for Saradomin/Zamorak purposes.

Laugh as you may, but the pact will hold Zaros to his vow or destroy him. And Zaros is nothing if not good at self preservation.

Original message details are unavailable.
"[Saradomin] is self-righteous, seeing things only in extremes. It was from him that I first learned of the notions of good and evil.
I dismiss such notions – there are only actions and consequences.
We agreed to disagree. Everything to him is either black or white, but he himself exists in the grey. Ergo, he is a contradiction."

>I called him a cunt

>I'm crying now, and my face hurts
>I lay in bed and its very cold
>Suddenly I feel a warmth moving towards me
>I feel something touch me

>He whispers into my ear, "This is my Gielinor"
>He grabs me with his metal hands and puts me on my hands and knees
>I'm ready-

Not to add fire to the flames, but I figured I'd just ask this here rather than start a whole thread over it: Why are people still supporting Zaros' plan? The whole point of the plan was to talk with the Elders and establish diplomancy. That failed. The argument in favor of supporting such a poor plan was that it was that "A poor plan is better than no plan."

OK so what's the deal now? While Zaros was off sulking like a child because Auntie Jas didn't raise his allowance, we actually managed to establish diplomacy. If it wasn't obvious from the fact that Zaros wasn't even trying to be diplomatic and was just straight up making demands, he wasn't interested in saving Gielinor. He just wants to ascend. And what does anyone have to gain from ANOTHER anima sucking monster coming in being, complicating things, requiring more sacrifice, and pissing off the Elders, causing our diplomatic efforts to fail?
Runescape doesn't need a hero...it needs a villain. An all encompassing force of evil that will remain ever-threatening and use chaos to make the peoples of Gielinor tolerate each other, grow strong together, and fight side by side against this evil. I am that villain.

^^

I think Zaros will slowly but surely end up becoming the villain in the Elder God storyline.
