I'm assuming Xau must be incredibly strong to have the nerves to challenge all the gods. Xau wants them all dead and there is "nothing we can do to stop" it. I worship Mah, for she is mah homegirl! The correct adjective for Mah's followers are: Mahomies, Mah-homeboys, or Mah-homegirls.

I would have guessed that Xau-Tak is tier 2, but that is just a guess. Perhaps scattering a warning/threat to the player across time and space (to Sliske and with the mouth of a goblin in the afterlife) would be some evidence of this.

every tier 2 god so far has been very chillaxed...as if they magically realize how petty all the squabbling is when they finally get past tier 3... or maybe they're just so powerful that they can afford not to care
xau sounds like a 4, maybe a 3 and probably with some nonsense power-up like tuska's immunity to god magic

how do you pronounce xau-tak by the way? I've been pronouncing the first bit as zau
Carn

Hmm, personally I've been pronouncing it Zow-Taak. Did they ever say the name in a stream or anything? Is it in the official pronunciation guide on the website yet?

Osborne said it in the Summer Summit Stream when they mentioned the Pirate Quest. It's the way you say it.

I'm not 100% sure on the Queen of Ashes, but I'd say 5 or 4. For no reason other than that V didn't give any special notice to her power.

As for Xau-Tak... I'm going to go full-on curveball here. Xau-Tak isn't a god. Not in the sense we see other young gods as. Aside from Zaros and Seren, who were creations of Mah, the other young gods are mortals who ascended by either slaying another god who received power from an Elder artifact, or by using an Elder artifact.
I don't believe Xau-Tak to fit under either case. It could be the roots he has in Lovecraftian C'thulhu Mythos, but I think he's just a VERY long-lived being with MASSIVE amounts of power. Like perhaps a being from another cycle, or another dimension even. Something with powers like mind control, the ability to see into the past and the future, and psychic powers to create things that allow him to communicate and manipulate others from a distance, like the 'treasure' that sailor brought aboard in Sliske's story.
Of course, it's no coincidence of the sailor's name. The same name basically as the sailor who, in The Call of C'thulhu decided to go upon the raised city of R'lyeh, and awakened C'thulhu. Ultimately, if Xau-Tak is similar to C'thulhu in this way, his origins would be simple: He was just.. there. Created by one who mortal minds could never comprehend, for a purpose that no mortal should ever realize.
