The Needle seems to bond with people. It bonded with Brimrose, turning her blue and taking her memories. It also is bonded now with Kerapac and made him blue as well!

Could the Crown have similar effects? Saradomin himself tells us the Crown chose him:
"- - I discovered a cave that hadn't seen human life...ever. Within, I saw a golden circlet that called out to me, choosing me. This was the Crown and I knew without hesitation that it was made for me. That I had been chosen."

He also seems to suffer from some kind of memory loss. Although, that probably is just that those events were a long long time ago and details are easy to forget. Just thought it's interesting enough to mention.
"All I have of them are the memories I carry through the ages, though I barely recall the names of my parents or the colour of my wife's eyes. They are part of the life of the man I was before, not the god I am now."

I'd say that if true, the Crown differs from the Needle at least in a way that the process of bonding is much slower. Perhaps this also applies to the memory loss, it doesn't happen instantly and perhaps being a god even supresses it. Saradomin might think his blue colour is because of the ascension, but maybe the bonding was completed as he ascended, turning him blue.

Could other artefacts bond with people too? If so, could they be bonded with the World Guardian? Kerapac does say that Elder Artefacts are in their own way intelligent and alive. Elder Artefacts, more than one, perhaps all.

Perhaps.

Puts crown on and:
-skin turns blue
- gains magic powers
- grows gnarly beard
- loses memory

So what youre saying is Saradomin is the Ice King from Adventure Time. Brilliant!
I have seen the dark universe yawning, where the black planets roll without aim;
Where they roll in their horror unheeded, without knowledge or lustre or name.

And he is currently hanging out in a city at the foot of
ICE
Mountain, one of the two possible resting places of Wen, the elder goddess most closely associated with frigidity.

COINCIDENCE? I THINK NOT!

This is certainly interesting. Though, it is worth noting that The Crown seems to be one of the 'weaker' artifacts (its only use is to locate the other artifacts, which in turn also expose the location of The Crown itself). That is probably why most gods/beings don't bother fighting a god to get that artifact, while The Staff and The Stone seem to be way more sought after. That could be why Saradomin was able to keep that artifact for a long long time.

But if that The Crown did 'bonded' with Saradomin, does that mean that the process of ascension and 'bonding' is separate? What happens when Saradomin is robbed of the crown? Does that mean that Gail will eventually become a god? Or this is a process more similar to the dragonkin and the Stone?

The bonding in Saradomin's case would be linked to ascension but I doubt they go hand in hand in general. Gail said she was weak when the Needle was weak and strong when the Needle was strong. Although, she did gain a considerable amount of power since she could battle Kerapac and he actually seemed to have some trouble with keeping her at bay.
Some kind of a symbiotic relationship?

With the new information about enchanting that Charos told us, I started to think that maybe the Crown could be enchanted, in a way. Instead of really having its own power, it draws the power it uses for locating the artefacts from elsewhere. The environment or the user.

Why the bonding would only happen as Saradomin ascended and not before?
- Maybe the Crown/Locator isn't strong enough to bond with a mortal but requires a stronger being to draw power for that from. After all, the Locator is a weaker artefact.
- It could require certain kind of power to draw from. Power of the Elder Gods perhaps. (with what gods are infused with) Since it was used by Elder Gods, would make sense it would draw energy from them.
- Perhaps to bond, an artefact needs to replace or do something related to souls. As a mortal ascends, their soul would no longer be in the way of bonding. Needle might be strong enough to override the soul. Brimrose was already weak and dying so maybe that made the bonding easier in her case...

If Saradomin truly was bonded with the Crown, what effects would that possibly have? Gail lost her memories but could the Crown do something else? Saradomin does seem quite keen on finding more and more of the Artefacts... Surely he has his reasons but it's also the main function of the Crown. So maybe it affects his decisions or personality without him even realising it.

This is a very interesting theory. I wonder if every ascended being who spends enough time with an Elder Artefact will become controlled by it..

Hey did anyone appoint how that Rose girl or whoever that was imbued to the Thread lost their memory due to the effect of time traveling in the confusing matrix made up by her mother, random adventurer and, uh, herself? Zeahyeah.

But moreover what i was to stamp ere was exclamation over how if elder arts changed person more or less visually, would it mean those were taken off if taken away too? So that Saradomin wouldn't be blue-dappa-dee anymore or sense other arts elsewhere? Cool or not go figure! And then again, Saradomin does seem to be ablebody to transmute his face to more icyenic kind, couldn't he? The bluishness seems to remain, but i wouldn't state he couldn't turn red too...

Random thought that popped into my head today...

Teragard, the realm where Saradomin (and the human species) originates and where he found the crown, is known to be a cold place. Wen participated in creation of Teragard, didn't she?

The Crown Archival/Locator is beginning to sound like it something connected to Wen and her obsession with the past. It's a lot less obvious than The Needle, but when you lose something that needs locating, you try and remember all the places you had it with you before and where you might have dropped or placed it.

As Edcy pointed out, the Needle turns people blue too. Maybe that is a feature of Elder Artifacts crafted by Wen?
