Desktop Freezing (NXT Client)

I have been trying to figure out why my desktop has been freezing every few hours or so and the only thing that has been a constant while troubleshooting is the NXT client being active. Anytime my computer freezes, it is when I use the NXT client. I can go 8 hours of watching videos and playing any other game, but as soon as I have RuneScape client running my PC freezes. I am not even doing anything taxing (just mid settings while mining). This has been happening for over a month now.

~ All of my drivers are up to date
~ My cooling on CPU/GPU are good
~ RAM is functioning properly
~ Tested without RS on for 8 hours with no issues


Is there something I could test to make sure it is not my PC and actually something wrong with the client? I will also submit a bug report in-game and I can give my PC stats. If you need more information, please let me know.

What do your GPU usages look like when playing?

Are you using any temperature/hardware monitoring programs whilst you play? You'd have to be checking these readings regularly to see if you can detect any issues with temperatures. Sometimes, it takes time for your temperatures to climb high enough to cause problems. If you aren't using any system monitoring programs, then you may want to check out CPUID HWMonitor or HWINFO. Both these are great at monitoring your machine.

Is it a total desktop freeze? As in, everything on screen is freezes and you're unable to do anything but reboot the machine?

Do you notice any patterns with this said freezing? Like, is it always every few hours (say 3-4) or can it sometimes take even longer? Does it ever not happen for a day or two, or does it always happen every single day?

Can you think of any changes made to your system, whether it be software updates or hardware, before the issues popped up?

What troubleshooting steps, if any, have you taken to try resolve this? Have you done anything like deleting the NXT client's cache and re-downloading it?

Also, if you decide to use any monitoring programs, make sure to set your background FPS in-game to match that of your foreground. This is to avoid disrupting the readings when you click out of the client as a lower background FPS will drop FPS once the client window becomes inactive (e.g. you click out), which drops the use of your system's resources and we don't want that.

Let's try to go through and answer all your questions in order :)

GPU usages look normal during use of the NXT client. I haven't noticed much of a change but I have only been using a program called "Speccy" and the internal Windows Resource Monitor to gauge my temperatures. I will try one of the programs you suggested and report back here in a couple of days.

Yes, it is a complete freeze of the OS. Nothing is operational. All sounds completely stop as well. I can only force reboot the device.

The only pattern I noticed is while playing RuneScape, but it varies on how long I can be on RS before it freezes. As far as I can tell, it has happened every single day I have had RuneScape on. I usually get home around 4:30pm, play RS until either 6:30-8pm, and it freezes. There have only been a few days where it did not happen, but that is few and far between. I did, however, notice that the days I did not play RS, I never froze. And I did go about 3-4 days without playing RS during last week due to other priorities.

As for changes, no I haven't. As a matter of fact, when I made this post I had recently just completely reset my OS (Deleting all files, Win10) a few weeks prior. I only installed what I originally had on the OS anyway. I have multiple drives, but I tried installing the NXT client on both drives to see if that was the issue, but no change. I have tried deleting the cache and uninstalling the NXT client entirely and reinstalling it. As mentioned above, I also tried installing on different drives.

I hope I was as detailed as you needed! If you need any more information, please feel free to ask. I will get back to you on the GPU temps. I am just doing afk mining so it is not really impacting me (bossing, active skilling, etc) in-game too much right now. Sorry for the long delay, things got real busy here the last few weeks.
