Thanks. I appreciate all the work and I'm looking forward to more fun.
BUT it is painful to have to live with several hundred strong smelting urns, which used to be the top tier and now are basically useless, given the introduction of the decorated tier. It would have been a nice touch to get them either upgraded or at least refunded in materials :-/
Anyway, thanks a lot for the nice bits :-)
the urns are still worth 20% more xp for the amount used to pop them, they didnt lost ANY value at all, they just pop faster.

Just got on to dump my collection of ores into the artisan's shop furnace, only to be quite saddened to see you are quest locked to deposit gold. does this mean you can NEVER do gold bars until you do family crest?
You can still use them from inventory as before, you just can't use the metal bank. The same quest also gives smelting gloves (replacement for goldsmithing) that are highly desirable as they allow 60 bars per make-x at the metal bank as well so it's practically a must do quest now if you intend to do a lot of smelting.
thats just the thing, im doing questless on this account. so basically the metal bank is worthless to me for when i do crafting training, and as someone commented to me on reddit as the quest is members only they locked f2p from using the metal bank at all for gold. now i have to test silver soon, and do my 57k gold the old fashioned way if thats even still possible

Of course they lost value by virtue of not being the top tier anymore, and by occupying bank space (2 slots) next to the top tier urns, and by making the user have to remember which urns to choose for which purpose, because they will not catch on all smithing, just up to 70 tier, iirc. And if someone has several hundred of them, it means that they are going to occupy that bank space and p*** the owners off for quite some time, whereas it would be such a little gesture to upgrade or refund them.
or they can just burn them now and never have to worry about them? if their like my main and have a stack able to get them to 99 then who cares? burn them!

supposedly its because the quest rewards the gauntlets that now auto bank bars and allow up to 60 smelting at once. but i agree there is NOTHING AT ALL involved with NORMAL gold and silver smelting for crafting that is handled by the quest. the only involvement with the quest is the smelting of "perfect" gold. this is a stupid requirement that wasnt at all in the design documents!

Hello,

Would just like to point out that Blacksmith's gloves do not seemed to have retained the Smelting gauntlets perk. When I smelt bars it only queues 28 and they are withdrawn to my inventory.

This may be intentional but it completely devalues the outfit as you now have to remove the gloves, lose the set effect to get the full benefit of the Smelting gauntlets perk.

Thanks
its always been gear that shares a purpose gains the xp bonus not the other way around. cooking gauntlets count as sou chef, silverhawks count as nimble, smelting gauntlets count as blacksmithing
