The ring slot is one of the most versatile equipment spots we have, and for PvM in particular, it's getting increasingly difficult to pick just one ring to wear. For starters, there's normal enchanted rings like life and wealth, and Fremennik and other imbued rings from Mobilising Armies from gold to onyx have stat bonuses for all sides of the combat triangle.

On top of those standard choices, there are many other rings which have various teleports, abilities, and stat boosts. Besides combat rings, slayers also have Ferocious and Slaying rings. The Tokkul-Zo and 6th Age Circuit have good stats, teleports to the Tzhaar and Automatons respectively, both of which can also be slayer tasks.

Leviathan, Death, and Surgeon rings are all decently statted rings each with their own passive effect. Vigour saves 10% of your adrenaline after using an ultimate ability. The Explorers ring is incredibly useful with a Falador farm teleport, run restore, superheat, and alchemy charges.

Even after narrowing your choices down, there is almost always more than one viable choice for that single ring spot. A damage boosting ring or one with a passive effect in combat gives an immediate benefit during a fight. Then there are rings that have a potential effect at the end of a kill like wealth for drops or death for healing.   There are support rings as well, like the Explorer ring which can be brought along to alch semi-valuable drops, and slayers on task have Slaying and Ferocious rings as potential options as well. While you can use a combat ring for most of a kill, then switch to wealth at the end, what's stopping us from wearing a second ring on our unused hand? The request to make use of this offhand ring finger is a small but logical one. That being said, exactly how this should be done is a bit of an open question. Here are some possible options:

The first is to have no restrictions on rings at all. Clicking equip would send a ring to the first open slot, or ask you which hand you want to put it on. Stat boosts would stack. There could also be a right-click option to equip a ring on the new offhand slot. Pre-EoC, this option was not popular because of things like the significant strength bonus two Berserker (i) rings could give.

Option 1.5 has no restrictions but stat boosts would NOT stack, and the higher value would simply override the lower one. For example, wearing a Seer (i) and onyx (i) gives you 25 mage, 21 range/melee damage and 22 armor, and wearing two onyx (i) rings would be the same as wearing one.

Special effects of rings like wealth, vigor, or leviathan wouldn't stack in either option.

The second option is to designate all combat boosting rings for one hand, and all support rings for the other. It prevents possible OP combos of combat rings, but limits useful combos of non-combat ones. Another possibility is to keep the restriction for combat rings, but have no such restrictions for non-combat for better flexibility. Equipping non-combat rings would work the way described in the first option.

The third option is to make all current rings as main hand rings, then introduce new offhand rings like what was done for dual wielding weapons. Like offhand weapons, an offhand combat ring would probably end up having a fraction (eg 1/2 to 2/3rds) of the stat bonus of it's main hand version. (cont.)

Another potential solution:

How about it working like the Ring of Kinship, so that it has a secondary ring, with a quick switch option. Rather than making a new ring slot. Room for thought :p

In addition to a second ring slot, whichever way it might be implemented, allowing us to combine certain types of rings similar to the way we make a Cramulet for Do No Evil would further improve the utility of these equipment slots.

It should be limited so the permutations don't get too out of hand, but there are just a few that are logical candidates for combining. Since slayer and ferocious rings can now be jammed into the slayer helm, they no longer need to be combined to anything, but Wealth and Vigour would go nicely with any Fremennik ring, imbued onyx or dragonstone, the Circuit, or superior Leviathan rings. These combination rings would be denoted by a (w) or (v) at the end of the main ring's name. All combination rings could be split back to their original rings at any time.

He is not whining, he is just stating that there are too many rings that give good bonuses etc than we can wear. Stop trying to start a flame war.
Although I'm not a member, I support.
We should be able to put 5 rings on each had, therefore 10 rings slots should be available.

Another great post:

I have not read every post, that would take all day.

With the advent of the concept of invention being brought upon us, I think this should be one the ideas Jagex should be looking at with a great deal of severity, especially from the obvious outcry from players.

All the ideas you have posted are well rounded and thought out, but having seen some sneak peaks of what is to come, (all good staffs being combined into one) I can see that this idea has promise.

I like the "similar to a cramulet Idea" and the offhand ring idea too.

Taking on a more original spin on things, there are many cool rings which could be combined. For example:

The ring of stone is a long forgotten item, but still pretty cool.
Maybe combining this ring with another i.e. Leviathan Ring could unlock a further ability..?
Turns you to stone briefly to avoid
REALLY
big hits? - Good for bosses.

What about the Tzhaar ring, combining that with another high level ring could not only be useful but give additional effects.

As I said before I see a lot of promise with these ideas. Quests could be developed to manage this properly, making it a "new technique" (1st Linza focused quest... ;))
-> And naturally once we have learnt the way make it we can have the freedom to combine rings, or maybe have a
CramRing
, However Jagex choose to play this, I think its an Excellent Idea and I can not wait for this to be implemented.

Long overdue,
Full support!!
