I think everyone can agree that it's ridiculous to consider RNG content. Therefor I would like to suggest that any quests which require you to search several items have the RNG removed from the item drop chance. I've just spent 30 minutes in the fear room from A Soul's Bane trying to find fear creatures. I spent so much time between the first two and the third that I thought I started doing something wrong. Question everything

No support.

Rng is a core aspect of the game thus makes 0 sense to remove it from something just because you'e having a hard time.

Agreed.

Might as well remove it from everything at this point.

agreed

also believe it or not rng is also in hitsplats. so to remove it entirely. means no combat in quests :L i like being pedantic

Fundamentals change all the time. Rng is not important.
The brightest ideas are the most undervalued.

Some quests aren't programmed exceptionally well.

Others should have "failsafes" put in them so a person isn't stuck at one part for too long. (not a case of skill or being too weak to beat a boss, just a case of not checking the right portal at the right time, but no skill element involved)

I think this is likely a case of both.

They should make the % chance of finding a fear creature in a portal increase over time so that if you've been in the room for more than 5 minutes you have a significantly high chance to find a creature each time you search a portal.

However

It's been quite some time since I did this quest, and from the wiki it looks like the reaper gets set to a specific portal each time you find him, so you literally just have to check each portal once every time you kill him. As such, this is not RNG. You just had to look in each portal once per kill, which at most would only take around 5 minutes per kill and should take far less. There are only 6 portals he can spawn in each time.
