Type of client used: Standard Runescape 3 client.
Operating System: Windows 7 Version 6.1 Build 7601: SP 1.
Laptop/Desktop: Desktop
Processor: Intel I7 4770k @ 3.5GHZ
Graphics Card: EVGA GTX 1070 8GB
RAM: 16GB

Heyo,

The title of the thread might be a bit vague, so hopefully I can clear it up in this part.
The past few months whenever there is an update in Runescape I have to delete the client, redownload and reinstall. This is because everytime an update is released and I launch the client, it seems to be running at about 2 frames per second if even that. Waiting for the little circle icon in the bottom left to reach 100%, then trying to log in or restarting the client has no effect. Trying to log in with the low framerate (which is somehow possible every now and then) makes the game run at 2 frames as well. What is also odd is that when Alt+Tabbing to the window, or away from the window it takes about 4-5 seconds for it to respond.

If needed I've recorded what it looks like from my end incase its neccesary for review or whatever. Just give me a heads up if needed, I'll upload the file to youtube or something.

Oddly enough, it's only this game that is showing issues, I can start any other game and it'll be working fine but this one. I usually wouldn't find it very troublesome because as I mentioned, there is a workaround by reinstalling. Unfortunatly even that workaround isn't working anymore. I've tried reaching out to Jagex on multiple occasions over Twitter with little to no success, so I figured I'd give the community a try.

If you've also experience this issue, or something similar and found a way to fix it, hopefully permanently, please let me know.

Suggestions are much appreciated, and in the meantime happy DXP for the non-ironman under us.

Hey
Odioticism
,

Every time you delete the client. You need to let the cache re-download to around 3.3-3.8GB before you log into the game and start playing. The cache is 1.3GB in size but it unpacks to 3.3GB on your HDD and this is 100%, to check how far it's downloaded open up the dev console (Same way as you do in Java) with the left hand alt key + ` (tilda/backtick key) which is next to your 1 key and then type
displayfps
when the dev console (blue box) opens. This will pull up the FPS counter in your top right hand side, press the key combination again to close the box, have a look at the picture below.

If the cache isn't downloaded properly you can get issues, as for the low FPS when you alt tab, this was an intended change by the Jagex teams to reserve power and GPU usage of the NXT client.

Druid, thanks for the response.
Whenever I delete the client I tell it to delete everything with it, so I figured it'd delete the cache. Whenever I'd reinstall the client I'd let the little icon load up to 100%, which I'd imagine is the unpacking you're on about. So that shouldn't be the issue as to why the login runs at such a low framerate.

Anyhow, since then I've upgraded to an SSD and not encountered any issues so far.
In regards to the developer console. I've heard mention of this several times, I am familiar with developer consoles in a multitude of other games and they always work in those games but for some reason I cannot open it in Runescape. Wether I press ~, alt + ~, etc. or any suggested combination either on Reddit or the forums.
