since bane ore is getting update please also fix the magic spell tune bane ore

tune bane ore works on:
- basilisk head
- basilisk head (stuffed)
- basilisk head (mounted)
- abyssal head
- abyssal head (stuffed)
- abyssal head (mounted)

tune bane ore does NOT work on:
- basilisk baby
creating one requires a basilisk head and 40 zeals (avg 7 hrs)

- abyssal minion
creating one requires an abyssal head and 85 zeals (avg 15 hrs)

both of these items require the head items to create, plus many hours depending on luck. as it currently stands, putting time and effort to unlock the pets actually locks you out of bane weapon content because you can no longer create the bane weaponry from the pet item. I think it is evident the pets were forgotten about when the spell was made, and now is a perfect time to fix this since bane ore is finally getting an update

worst case scenario 85 zeals takes you 85 games of losing soul wars. each game is 20 minutes with a min of 3 minutes wait time between games. so 23 minutes for 1 zeal is the (almost) worst case scenario. we're talking 32.5 hours for the abyssal head in a near worst case scenario. (to be fair you can do it with thaler nowadays, which is a hard minimum of 17 hours). this is assuming you even have an abyssal head, which itself takes hours of RNG to even obtain in the first place.

as is, the way things currently are you are actually discouraged from unlocking the pet since it prevents you from tuning bane ore anymore. which means to unlock both you must not only get this very rare drop, but get it twice in order to have the pet (a cosmetic) and access to this form of bane weaponry (actual use). IMO this is an obvious oversight and should be fixed

unlocking new content, especially cosmetic content (at the expense of XP), should not lock you out of content you have already unlocked. this is a no brainer and anyone arguing otherwise is almost certainly trolling.

From Dathana's Message:

There should be a Tune Bane Ore scroll in this room to teach the necessary spell. Cast it on parts of certain deceased creatures to tune the bane ore against those creatures.

Yes, your pets were made from parts of deceased creatures, but they are not deceased and therefore not valid targets for the spell to use.

I mean is it really still deceased if it gets resurected? I mean - it's undead at most, if not even outright alive again.

I think they should go for a different approach at least for the abyssals (who does even use basilisk bane?!) - allow using the abyssal whip, wand and orb for the tuning process. The former is used to tune melee weapons after all as well.

Now all you need to do is finish the quote:

There is nothing to be fixed. Your pets are alive or at least animate and do not qualify as a 'part of a deceased creature' for the spell to use.

you can use tune bane ore on the mounted heads, which are alive/animated because they talk

so no, wrong again

You do know that those heads are stuffed and mounted, yes?

The player can talk with them. But given the lack of any magic to animate them, it pretty likely that any talking on their part is in the player character's head.

If you honestly want to hang onto the idea of the heads being 'alive' (despite being taxidermied and missing their body), the pets still wouldn't qualify. The spell specifies that you need to cast it on the parts of certain deceased creatures. So even if we disregard the deceased bit (which I'd argue hasn't happened), your pet is an entire creature, not a part of one (unlike the mounted heads).
