Allow the use of offhand slot (or maybe only shields and defenders) while using a 2h weapon:

- when using a 2h weapon, allow for equipping an offhand slot item at the same time.

- while offhand item equipped, for all intended purposes, the 2h weapon becomes a main hand weapon with 50% (or lower) its original strength (still same accuracy).

- i.e. animation/graphics-wise, the 2h weap is held as a main hand weap. For abilities, it also acts as a main hand weap.

This would be intended to make shield switches easier for 2h weapons. An added bonus would be for fashionscape because EVERYONE wants to walk around with a spear and shield (hastae are ugly and cannot be overridden as spear, also bring back the old battlestaff + anti-dragon shield).

This should not replace normal main hand weapons.

Wielding 2h or dual-wield of same tier generates 150% strength of a single main hand weap.
2h + offhand will generate 50%*(150%) + 50% = 125% strength.
Main hand + shield = 100%.
2h + shield = 75%.
Main hand + defender = 125%
2h + defender = 100%

Hence this only facilitates the use of shield abilities and sacrifices some dps compared to using main hand weaps.

As for augmented items, perks on the offhand item may be disabled while using 2h+offhand. Or maybe all three perks may be allowed to compensate for lower damage output and allow for some niche uses.

Well you could hold a 2h weapon in one hand, you'll just be slower and less proficient with it, hence 50% strength reduction. The problem is with bows though. Bows still need to be fired with both hands with the offhand item still equipped. This would look weird.

I do agree with the melee and mage shieldbow idea. However I have to admit a big part of this 2h/main hand suggestion is for the looks.

One possibility would be to introduce new weapons that are hybrid 2h/main hand. When no offhand item is wielded, the weapon acts as a 2h weapon with full strength. When an offhand item is wielded, the weapon becomes a main hand weapon with 50% strength reduction (or 33% reduction in which case it is acts equally well as 2h or main hand). In the 33% reduction case, the weapon would be very op as it would be essentially a merge of a 2h and main hand weapon. However I think this could be a good item to introduce in mid- to endgame tiers for added utility and diversity.
