I received this email 23 hours ago:

The Tiddler, we have received a request to reset the password for your RuneScape and Old School RuneScape account.

To be precocious I routinely changed password upon request (can't hurt). After doing so I attempted to log in order to see what was the root cause of this email. Upon which I was met with an authentication pin that was not my own.

After proceeding to click "Can't login? Click here." the message changed from asking for the authenticator, to your account has been disabled (Eek! :(?) it gets worst. Upon trying to appeal this ban, this is the message I am met with:

"You cannot appeal this type of ban.
These penalties are reserved for the worst offenders and we will not debate these types of bans on our forums, social media or any other method of communication."

This seems like an unjust end to an account I put forth effort into and cared about. Either way thought I'd let it be known on forums that sometimes things can be out of your control on this game.

Still love you OSRS team.

I would say in the future do not follow links from the email and type in the actual website by yourself. This can prevent possible phishing for your password even if your email says it's safe.

This is very true. Was so shook up by the situation could have easily fallen victim to a malicious link. Thank you for the advice!

There are a lot of phishing password reset emails going around at the moment. If you did not request a password reset, then it's very likely it's a fake designed to steal your information

If authenticator was added but it wasn't you who added it, it sounds like your account has been compromised :(

The first step would be to secure your account and linked email account, then appeal your ban here :)

Hello Pippy thank you for the advice after a little snooping it turns out these phishing links are very abundant right now as you said!

I have two questions for you if its not overstepping:

Why are these links nearly identical in stature to typical osrs team emails?
(my gmail account could not even differentiate between the two)

Second off as far as my situation goes I believe the actual act of changing the password is what lead to the account being disabled, what is the logic behind this?
