Volcanic Mine Tweaks
Quick find code: 380-381-425-65953374
Make all preview looks beautiful. It will be well worth the wait
Thanks. I've plugged it into some hundred places throughout the game, giving a Make-All where there was a Make-X, and simply applying the new style interface where it just had Make-10, and it really did take a while. (Plus I've been away lately for personal reasons, which didn't help make it faster.)
Can we see some love given to the blast furnace interface?
Those are in an older interface format, so before we could "insert love" for them we'd have to recreate them from scratch in the newer format. Which is fine to do, but takes a lot longer than one would expect.
Hope you are doing well ash with everything that has happened
Doing fine, thanks. Everyone's been lovely.

Is there an estimate for when Dragon Slayer 2 will drop in game? Provided polls pass of course.
Not a very detailed one, but we'd be aiming for early 2018.
it's really hard to find active games for the volcanic mine, can we get an official volcanic mine world?
There is one.
Thanks for quick reply. I can see that being a problem. I personally dont use the spell but i only use ultra on herb patches and normal super on allotments and anything else, and wouldn't like to waste my volcanic ash.
I was assuming it'd be a new spell, so you can choose. I do like the simple the 2 in 1. But usefulness of having to drop ash if i want the other would be annoying.
Hmmm. We weren't so keen to introduce a whole new spell, with the accompanying effects on layout, just to upgrade that one. Could perhaps let the spell icon contain a toggle for what it'll do. Or ask every time you cast the spell, though that'd be frustrating for other reasons.
We all appreciate all the effort & time spent on this man and we understand your situation. Hope your holding up okay mate.
Doing fine, thanks. Got to take some time off next week for a funeral though. Anyhoo, testing can continue without me being in the office.
Will cracking open coconuts with a hammer and making vials of coconut water have make-all after the update?
They don't have Make-X now, and won't acquire it (or Make-All) as part of this update.
But I wouldn't refuse to do it in future.
Anyway, it looks like this:

I'm sorry but did you seriously just spend months adding the simple feature of "make-all" because you decided complicate it and change THE ENTIRE INTERFACE?
I can see why you'd leap to that conclusion. But have a look at what we offered:
Question: Should a Make-All option be offered alongside every Make-X option in Old School?
If this was all that passed, we'd have simply put a Make-All option under the existing Make-X options. Still not quick to do, in fact, since the Make-X systems were never well centralised before, but it would have saved maybe 3 weeks.
And then we offered more, to see if players maybe wanted something with less right-clicking:
Question: If Make-All is added to Old School, should the Make-X interfaces in the chatbox area be upgraded as described in the blog so that Make-All can be a left-click option rather than always being right-click?
And that one passed too. With 90% support. So yes, we proceeded to redesign the interface because players asked us to.

You always have to take things a step further, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the old one...
... though 90% of players wanted something more than that.
We could certainly have saved a bit of time by not offering anything more than a bare-bones basic job, and if you wish we'd refused, or if you wish those 90% of players had voted differently, that's absolutely fair enough.

It's my understanding that they weren't able to just add to the current interfaces, but rather had to redo some of them.
As many of the original interfaces used an older interface format that we can no longer edit, we would indeed have had to recreate them in the 2006+ interface format to install the 'All' option.
More pressingly, as I've described above, since we were going to have to delve into all these scripts anyway, we took the opportunity to offer a more extensive job, and it did indeed pass its poll pretty convincingly.
What happened to the Brimhaven Graceful recolour update from content Poll 56?
Maz has been working on some of the other things from those polls, and I expect we'll see more of them next week. I'm not sure whether this particular one is in that batch, but it'll come.
We've had a few staff absences lately, including me, plus things like RuneFest taking days of people's time, so some of the QoL work has been held up. Sorry.
...btw, speaking of easyscape ..when is zilly going to be able to be killed on "spiritual creatures" tasks, was talked about being in game months ago, and still not in game.
She isn't one of those. She's an icyene. If you want to kill her on task, you'll want a boss task, or you'll need to wait for us to add icyene as a category.
Oh okay my bad I hadn't realized that there was a question regarding the interface change in the poll, I do apologize for any ungratefulness in my previous comment.
Totally no worries
There's one or two things where we genuinely did change more than was strictly necessary, such as glassblowing and spinning wheels, both of which got a bit of tidying of their menu alignment. Also a lot of code maintenance done behind the scenes, since what we had before was extremely bad for expansion, and this was an opportunity to get the codebase tidied up. So you'd actually be right that we did more work than was strictly necessary - though the new menu wasn't part of it
And you all excited about dragon slayer 2, but this isn't new content it'll have addy and rune drags which is old rs3 dead content
Haven't you got any new ideas or is it all these new developers from rs3 can only think of old rs3 content?
New ideas? Yup, there's an entire new quest, and a new guild, and various combat equipment additions, and a new runecrafting feature, and a new boss, and possibly a F2P quest too. Plus rather a lot of other unique content introduced at RuneFest, including a different style of raiding dungeon, and more unique content in planning that wasn't fitted into that stage session. Enjoy.
rather than giving me a history lesson instead of dodging the question, how about an answer
That was my straight answer to your question; it was "no". I appreciate you may have had a different answer from other staff, though; we don't have a centralised depot of confirmed answers to all these questions. So it may well come in future, but I've not heard about any plans for it, and I've explained why I don't feel it to be appropriate.
youre litterally forcing people to do what u think is best for them, by giving them a disadvantage if they resist. litterally a dictatorship.
Yes. We'd naturally prefer to leave players to decide, of their own free will, to look after their accounts properly, but we've found that doesn't work very well. Last I heard, less than half of OSRS players bothered using the authenticator, even though we've offered it over and over again for so long.
If a player who got hijacked and lost stuff would always conclude "I guess I chose not to use those security features, but it was my choice and I accept the consequences", that'd be absolutely fine. However, not everyone in RS is particularly security-savvy, and they don't always seem to make informed decisions - and they frankly come screaming to us when they've lost stuff in avoidable ways. Which isn't good for their experience of the game either.
So while I appreciate that we are forcing you to improve your account security, you'll perhaps understand why we're finding it necessary.
LOLOL At new quest yes but you still putting old rs3 content, instead of old drags which are dead content on rs3 cant they come up with something new and original to kill instead of more dragons which tbh arent needed in 07 we have brutals and enough as for the rest of the new stuff you saying we shall see have much it will fail
Also we dont need a new guild either as for another f2p quest they seem to get better updates than members atm
Yup, there's definitely quite a few new and original things to kill, in addition to the two kinds of dragon that have made you so upset. Enjoy the rest of the blog
I'm afraid I don't agree with your concern about F2P getting better updates than members, since the blog is offering rather a lot of members' content - in addition to the two dragons you've chosen to focus on - and has very little for F2P.
Where we have metal dragons going up to mithril, it seems pretty intuitive that the sequence could be expanded. Do we have to copy how RS3 did it? Nope, and I don't think we're going to. But we're equally not barred from continuing the sequence.
If the actual released content is too much like RS3's content, in a bad way that you can describe and criticise constructively, you'll be entitled to complain about it, and I'll be more interested in what you have to say then.
As for the network conditions over recent times, we're aware that it's not good enough, and we've got the sysadmins and engine team doing everything they can to improve it. And, as for people being banned, if one of your friends legitimately needs one reviewed, direct them to ask Support here.
Ash before you retreat and disappear, heres a thought for you.
IMO the last decent original content and the best content ever in osrs was Monkey Madness 2 quest, and before you start trolling out other content lets dissect it for you.
Zeah = priffydis on rs3
Raids is a copy of rs3 content
Cant think of anything else new just old and copied rs3 content just dressed up to get kids excited who never seen rs3
I'm afraid we don't agree that those pieces of content are copies of RS3's, unless you're going out of your way to ignore any differences. Just as you went out of your way to ignore huge quantities of content in the blog, so that you could focus your complaints on what you assumed would be a copy of RS3's extra metal dragons. Good bye.
