Hi,

My main account (chuckislarry) was banned under the premise of botting/macroing. I have just returned to this game within the past few days and have purchased a membership. I have never used any kind of cheat/bot/macro/ahk and play the game fairly as I actually enjoy playing it. Being banned (even for 48 hours) is in my eyes a huge smack in the face from Jagex to players who play by the rules.

I did some research and found that a programmable mouse can trigger Jagex bot detection. I use a Logitec G Pro mouse and I have the software installed to adjust my DPI etc. I DO NOT under ANY circumstances use any kind of macro/ahk or any other form of cheating.

As I am paying for this membership out of my own hard earned money, the seriousness of this matter is greatly increased.

I would like this band to be lifted ASAP and would like to understand why I received the ban and how to prevent this happening in the future.

Regards,

JP

Yes. I have already done this. However looking at similar scenarios to this on the forums it seems that Jagex will rarely respond to an apeal within 48 hours to lift the ban. As such I have made this post in an attempt to have the ban lifted sooner.

I would like to play the game that I have paid for.

There should be a better system in place for situations like this as it is unfair and very frustrating.

Ok I understand that. But do you not agree that it is unfair that Jagex puts bans on players who play the game by the rules? Obviously there is something wrong with the detection system. Unless my account was hacked withing the 10 hour period that I was asleep and not playing which is highly unlikely. If you pay for a game that you love and support, and you play it fairly, you should not be slapped with a ban based on some detection software. I know for a fact, without any doubt, that I was playing by the rules. Does this community accept this kind of treatment?

Im sorry if this seems over the top but I am really annoyed.

I just think Jagex should treat its players better. I hate bots just as much as anyone else, and I want Jagex to keep actively putting measures in place to keep them out of the game. But, its not fair to treat players as guilty until proven innocent

Well your appeal are waste of time , since it is only for 48 hours , so when they come to your appeal , will your account already be unbanned and back in the game , but if your account still are banned after those 48 hours , then would i use the appeal.

What they detected and such , well that is up to you to find out , since Jagex never tell what their findings are when it is a Macro offence (since that would help bot makers to improve their scripts).

It seems there is very little help from Jagex regarding the matter. I do not want to dedicate a lot of time to this game if I am going to receive another false ban (the next one would be permanent). I have looked online on other forums and such and there are quite a few people in the same boat, however I cannot confirm their legitimacy.

I would just like know how I can prevent this from happening again. The only thing I can think of doing is to disable the Logitec Gaming software that I use to configure my mouse, as that software can be used to run macros to my understanding (to hammer the point, I have never used that software for this purpose).

This is a difficult matter, because Jagex does not want to elaborate on anything regarding macro/bot detection, and as such false positive flags cannot be further investigated and in effect avoided.

This may be just a game, but it is a very time consuming game, and 1000's of hours can be invested into it. To have that all at risk of a ban at any time without any sure way of knowing how to prevent it despite playing by the rules brings on a reasonable amount of anxiety.

In the explanation for the evidence regarding my ban, Jagex seemed very positive that I was using third party software for the purpose of botting. I would like to know how they have come to such a conclusion with such certainty, as I have never used such software, nor intended to for that matter.

I would be happy to put forth and release any information or evidence necessary for Jagex to conduct a more thorough investigation. I have nothing to hide and am proud to play the game as it was meant to be played, by the rules.

Well since you only got a 48 hour ban , is that a warning saying , dude there are something running there are trying to connect to the RS client , or something in your set up on your mouse are in a grey area.

Temp bans are not something they use vey often most cases do end up with Perm bans.

I know it is a pain in the "Biip" when we don't know what it is , but i do also understand their reason of why they don't tell what it is.

I agree and also understand why they don't reveal the information as real hackers could take advantage of it to make their bots less detectable. As such it is a double edged sword.

I will probably completely take my mouse out of the question by using a standard mouse and I will uninstall the Logitec Gaming Software. Hopefully thats the cause!

Thanks for the help folks
