The problem here is everyone is talking about potentially different things..

There is an issue, for example, where you can be dumped to the login screen during world hops. I assume it's because the login server derps. When that happens, you can log straight back in. That one is on Jagex's end, but is a minor issue and can be worked around.

In OP's case, "When I try to log back in, it tells me that my account is still logged in from a previous session and I have to wait about a minute to log back in" indicates they lost their connection and their account is still logged in because the game hasn't realised it yet (i.e. no traffic from client). The problem is on their end and OP needs to troubleshoot their LAN or get onto their ISP.

In Argox's case, probably also network related, but as one NIC works fine and another doesn't, I'd initially suspect a driver/config failure - assuming that Argox has been able to connsistently confirm that one always fails and one always works. Again, on Argox's side. Driver reinstall / NIC replacement could potentially resolve.

Lightfear, in your case, I suspect your NIC or your gateway is failing - that error you get during Ping has always indicated a lost network to me, and your gateway is usually what would 'create' the network insofar as that. On your end, in that case. I'd try powercycling your gateway, factory reset or replacing it (try an alternative network initially to validate, to save expense).

There's another thread that people keep posting to about server overload during the Seren event - that's been over for weeks.

Finally, anyone playing on a mobile network (3G etc) will often drop on account of they function. No fix there.

The thing is, the manifestations of all these are very similar. And I get irritated because people post on other threads about network issues, complaining about problems that are on their end. And in the most case, providing no details, so it can't be helped. Like Woody Chain.

Unfortunately most of us are not computer experts so when out of the blue we get logged out of Runescape (when all other web activities are fine) we wonder what is going on.
All we can post is that we have been logged, we have no other technical way to put it.
Therefore WE get irritated by the logouts.
As i posted on another thread, this has occured in prior years and it is found often to be server issues not our computers, and therefore we can be forgiven for assuming it is another server issue this time.

Aside from the fact I challenge your suggestion that "this is often found to be server issues", as my experience on these forums (and in my own playing) has been to the contrary, I like how you posted back doing exactly the unhelpful thing that I said people do, while also failing to provide any additional details..

No, I think it's fair enough to say that most people aren't technical. That's reasonable. But with an average on-peak player count of 120k and an off-peak of 50k, and about 7 posters on the bpard over the space of a week or so about connection problems, it seems unreasonable to assume these problems are affecting a large number of people. If it was server-side, it would.

On the rare cases where (for example) a datacentre goes down, it's not uncommon to see several threads up to a good page or so, let alone posts, in the space of a few minutes. Where that sort of thing happens, and it isn't sorted within an hour, it's usually the case that Jagex posts about it on the forums, news and Reddit.

Jagex doesn't post here any more, and aside from their support KBAs, I'm not sure it offers technical support any more. Given that, I can only assume they don't care, which I question personally, but it does mean that players need to take responsibility for resolving their own problems. After all, as I said, the player count is anywhere between 80 to 120k. if so many people can play, why can't you?

In that light, why not post back some details of your machine, network and a description of your problem and how/when it manifests, that might enable others on this board to make suggestions on what you might be able to do to resolve them.

Okay so I think i fixed the problem on my end. I tried using a VPN while playing for an extended period of time to see if that would stop me from getting logged every hour. It did not, but I did find something interesting. The VPN would also disconnect at the exact same time. This told me that it was indeed on my end and not Jagex. So I did a google search to see how to fix it and many of the answers said to create a static ip. I did this and logged in to see if it would throw me off at the hour mark and it didn't! I'm still not sure why I suddenly started having this problem. I have had the same PC and internet for the past 5 years with no changes while runescape is constantly getting updated so you can understand why I thought it wasn't on my end. Hopefully this can be a solution to others who are having this problem as well.
