If there's a previous version that worked, then I'd just roll back to the driver that did the job.

If you're running a Windows platform, then be aware that Windows Update these days will try to deploy driver updates automatically, and that can actually screw things up and result in driver version mismatches and all kinds of shite.

You might want to disable that.

You may also then want to go into Device Manager and forcibly uninstall the driver for your card first.

Then reboot your system and reinstall your preferred driver, which you should download from the AMD website.

Though, that said, "NXT is virtually unplayable for me" leaves a lot to the imagination, so you might want to share some further detail first and see if there's a problem unrelated to your driver causing the issue first...

Can you confirm that when you've reinstalled the driver, you're putting on the old one (that worked before - can you confirm that it actually did work before, and what the performance was like)?

If so, can you enter the "renderer" command into the developer console, and paste what comes back? (or a screenshot)

Are there any issues with anything else other than Runescape?

EDIT
To open the developer console, hold the Alt key and press the tilde button. It's usually to the immediate left of the "1" key on a QWERTY keyboard.
