Just wanted to spitball the idea and see how people feel about it.

Basically there could be an item purchasable from some minigame or dungeoneering, maybe reaper points, could be discussed the pros and cons of each source, but this item would be a light source which could be a pocket slot item and by paying some quantity of Slayer Points could be combined with the Slayer Helmet.

Thoughts?

1) Yes it's a pretty hefty benefit so I would assume a hefty associated cost

2) For people like me who just want to be allowed to forget my lantern while running clue scrolls, it's not any sort of "min-max" advantage where I'm leveraging that inventory slot, I'm just getting a bit of a more forgiving system for my bad memory

3) If the Slayer Helmet combine is too strong, then any chance we could have a lantern attached to the Globetrotter Backpack instead? Could be an upgrade purchased from TT shop.

Example concepts

Light Crystal
250 Heist Points

Bioluminescent Jelly
Rare chance to obtain from Fishing Trawler

Stabilized Glowing Orb
5000 Runecrafting Guild Tokens

Learn to combine with Slayer Helmet for a one-time fee of 500 Slayer Points

Both of your solutions serve the same option as carrying my sapphire lantern.

There is no advantage for the Seers Headband or the Firemaking Cape over the sapphire lantern. All three take 1 inventory slot. They all cannot be extinguished by the environment. They provide light in every instance where light is needed.

My point is to have something that is a part of the outfit I already wear:

Globetrotter Outfit -> numerous clue related benefits
Slayer Helmet -> needed to repel wall beasts
Luck of the Dwarves -> benefit for clue rewards
Tiranwyn Quiver -> helps with tyranwyn scan clues

So what I would accept as a reasonable counter suggestion would be that I should add the perk to my weapon so that it provides light. It's a good counter proposal, but it does require that I don't use two other potentially very helpful perks on the weapon. Dual Wielding would further improve my situation, as currently I just use a 2h which can only have 2 perks.

I don't know of any amulets/necklaces or pocket slot items that provide light. If there is one, I'd like to know about it.

Anyway I never meant to claim that there are no light sources available.

I am asking for a suitable option for incorporating the light into my outfit and not needing it in my inventory.

As I pointed out, this is a luxury and I expect it to be costly. I am not asking for a free handout. I am not asking for some game-breaking advantage. I am asking for a luxury and a QoL improvement.

I fail to see how something to be useful with you outfit is considered a "QOL" update?

Sometimes you need to break what you like wearing for something that you need for going in certain places.

No idea what your definition of what a "quality of life" update is, or why you can so flippantly declare that a suggestion is not one.

Quality of life: The degree to which an individual is healthy, comfortable, and able to participate in or enjoy life events.

Health has nothing to do with a game update.
Comfort is exactly what I am getting at.
Ability to participate also has nothing to do with this suggestion.

QoL to me is just any update that makes playing the game less tedious. It's not a new super strong weapon or boss, it's not a revolutionary new combat system or skill rework, it's just something relatively small that makes something the game does which annoys you less annoying.

What am I saying is annoying? Forgetting my lamp and having to go to a bank for it. What is my suggested solution? A hard-to-obtain lamp that I can't forget.

Yes but I fail to see how enabling you to upkeep you fashionscape is considered a "QOL" update?

I mean jagex has already commented on why they don't like updating the helm so that's even more reason this wont happen.

Great idea! I support adding the lamp to a piece of the Globetrotter gear, as a purchasable upgrade from the Treasure Trail shop.

As pointed out by previous posters, several other pieces of gear already give light, so this would not be a great stretch of credulity.

Lighting the slayer helm would be great too, but it's already got a lot of upgrades on it, so I doubt it will happen. If it does, though, I'll use it :P .

And responders: please stick to the issue (add light to gear). It's nit-picking to argue about whether this is "quality of life" or not.

So from your perspective, why would this be a good update since there are already other pieces of gear that provide light, not to mention a plethora of inventory items which do, plus as I also said, the Invention perk?

Personally I think that the multitude of options means that one more is no harm to anything and a helpful addition.

Curious if you have any additional perspective to add.

Slayer helmet is combination of items designed for fighting against extreme conditions, so it offering a way to see in dark wouldn't really be that far fetched.

And if ask me, that'd make more sense than "fusing" rings into it.
