I know this has likely been proposed many times, but I think it would be a really cool if there were a daily or weekly D&D that was a large scale world or city invasion by a large army of enemy units (sometimes troll army, sometimes dragons, zombies, vyre, etc.). Every so often at predetermined times, huge enemy armies would attack Falador, Varrock, Prif, and a few other interesting cities and locations, requiring the RS player base to defeat the incoming army with the help of meager existing defenses of these cities (walls, catapults, low level knights, etc.).

It would be sort of like Pest Control, but in the full city environments or in other interesting places. Ideally, the results of the invasions would have lasting consequences on the cities and environments until the next event (every week or so). If not defended, the incoming soldiers can destroy whole existing buildings, shops, kill often used merchants, destroy castle walls, kill King Roald, and even, yes, entire cities. Imagine, all of Varrock or Fally razed to the ground for a few days. If successfully defended, players in the event would gain temporary skilling bonuses to exp rates and loot from the incoming army. In the meantime during the week between events, players can skill to repair any damage using Construction and etc. using materials dropped by invading enemies or elsewhere. Each server would have independent effects.

Each army would have over 200 relatively high level units, a few mini bosses scattered around, and one or two main "generals" or full bosses like a moving Claudia or similar that would need to be dealt with.

Deaths for players would be safe, but have penalties like preventing you from aiding the remaining battle or entering the city zone until the end of the battle once you receive one death.

I think this kind of a large-scale invasion/world event would be really fun for players and something RS has never really done before.

Thanks. I just read through your ideas quickly as well. Yeah, your ideas sound good as well. Having world pvp along with improvable tiles (improvements can be built just about anywhere, anytime - with things like moats, spike traps, mini forts, walls, etc) along with "conquerable" cities and locations (like Varrock and etc.) would be fun. I do think for this to work, the losses sustained upon dying would have to be reduced from regular RS death somewhat.

Maybe on these "World PVP" worlds only, instead of losing items entirely monetary losses from dying would only be 5-10% of what they normally are based on GE prices and you can pay death that reduced amount for your items back. That would encourage people to use their best gear in combat all the time and make things more fun for everyone.

That's a good point, that reduction would work! I think the penalty should be normal in the Wilderness to bring back that traditional PVP feel. I'm not sure though, it'd be something Jagex could try out in a beta if the idea was developed. But anyways, sorry for the self-advertising, I just figured that our ideas had some similarities. :)
