Hello,
currently i am playing runescape-launcher on Chromebook Acer Edgar 14 with Arch Linux.

The hardware of the Acer Edgar 14 is not that great so i have to play runescape-launcher on min settings with 30-40 fps with:
4x Intel Celeron CPU N3160 @ 1.60Ghz - 3.8GiB of RAM - Intel HD Graphics 400

I'm planning on buying new laptop just for RuneScape nothing else, that will run Arch Linux.

I found 2 options:

Acer Chromebook 14 CP5-471-53B9
CPU - Intel Core i5 6200U Dual core (2) Skylake 2300 MHz 3 MB cache
RAM - 4 GiB
Video - Intel HD Graphics 520 shared

and second option refurbished macbook pro

Apple Macbook Pro 13.3 inch | Core i5 | 4GB | 500GB
CPU - Intel Core i5 2.3GHz (2 cores) Sandy Bridge 2,3 GHz (max. 2,3 GHz)
RAM - 4 GiB
Video - Intel HD Graphics 1024 MB onboard

I can not find any information on what type of Intel HD Graphics is used on the macbook pro, because it's refurbished, and it does not display that information on the trader website.

A few years ago i used to own a macbook, so i know what to expect, but in terms of runescape-launcher-2.2.4, which would run smoother?
The above listed macbook or chromebook?

I'm not expecting ultra settings at max fps, but would settle with medium graphics around 60 fps.

Plus for the chromebook is that it can run the open source Coreboot bios.

Downside of the macbook i.m.h.o is that it ships with this build-in rescure shell, that can be used with ssh, and telnet, remote connection, that i know little about, but seems pointless to me, because i will not use the ssh, and telnet on that rescure shell? Is there a way that can be exploited in anyway when using public wifi and not using home-router? i don't know.

I have not decided yet which one i should get for runescape, i would love to see suggestions.

Third option i found this Dell:

Inspiron 15 3000
CPU - 7e generatie Intel® Core™ i5-7200U processor (3 MB cache, tot 3,1 GHz)
RAM - 8 GB, DDR4, 2.400 MHz
VIDEO - Intel® HD graphics 620 met gedeeld grafisch geheugen

As far as i know, runescape-launcher tends to ask more from GPU then the CPU, if i'm correct.

The dell price is € 459
The refurbished macbook pro price is € 579
The refurbished chromebook price is € 424

I have not decided yet, and would love to see suggestions, personally i'm thinking about the dell..

I also found this

refurbished HP Elitebook 745 G3
CPU - AMD A10-8700B 3.20 Ghz
RAM - 8 GB DDR3
VIDEO - AMD Radeon R6 1 GB

I don't know much about AMD, because i always used Intel in the past.

When all specs are similar I'd pick Dell. They have an amazing customer service. Also you should take MSI to consideration. I recently bought MSI GV72 8RE, but some older models are pretty good too.

My choice now boils down to these two:

Acer Chromebook 14 CP5-471-53B9
or:
Dell Inspiron 15 3000

I will overthink it one more night, but it will indeed probably be the Dell...
Only downside on the Dell, is that the delivery time is 23 days. :(

*edit* really would like to know how runescape-launcher preforms on the Intel Graphics 620.
Right now i am playing on Intel Graphics 400 and have to settle with min graphics at 40 ~ fps

Would be nice to achieve 60 fps on med settings with that Dell specs.

*edit* i just placed order for the Dell Inspiron 15 3567:

7e generation Intel® Core™ i5-7200U processor (3 MB cache, tot 3,1 GHz)
15,6-inch HD-screen (1.366 x 768)
8 GB, DDR4, 2.400 MHz
Harde Disk van 1 TB (5.400 rpm)
Intel® HD graphics 620 with shared memory

It comes with ubuntu pre-installed.
Only the screen is not that great, and i have no idea if switching from Intel Graphics 400 to Intel Graphics 620, would make a difference.

Why not find one with ryzen5 2500u 8gb ram and 256gb ssd
In my country thinkpad e485 with this spec cost only about 570usd
Not united state but i convert the currency into usd

The vega8 is much better than intel latest gt2

Those igpu found in intel silvermont or goldmont are low speed one, they have lower eu count than gt2, 12 or18 vs 24, and run at 400mhz instead of around 1ghz
You can compute the performance that they should be only 20-25% of a gt2

Hey Thank you for the response, Sjm1992003a

But i already placed order for the Dell Inspiron 15 3567.
Now i just have to wait and see if the Intel Graphics 620 shared memory, will run runescape-launcher-2.2.4 at decent fps at med graphics.

If not then bummer, but then i still got better CPU then i am currently using :)

Last note, please Jagex, keep the support for MIN graphics option so runescape-launcher will be playable on Low-Budget Laptops. :) thread can be closed. neglected runescape-launcher-2.2.4 on Gentoo because it just ... takes so long to compile ... can't beat the uber elite kick ass Arch on my Dell budget Laptop
