On 10th October, the Clan Cup will begin, with the competition running over several weeks.
What is the Clan Cup?
The Clan Cup is an annual tournament where RuneScape clans do battle with skill or arms for fun and glory.
Clans of all experience are welcome to compete together. While some of the highest-ranking clans will be participating, everyone will be able to find something fun and exciting to take part in throughout the tournament.
We will be running several different types of competitions with the hope that everyone will find something to enjoy. These will include:
Clan wars knockout tournaments in F2P or P2P and EoC or Legacy -
JMods have a lot on their plate this fall, so the main difference about the Clan Cup in 2016 is that it will be run by players, rather than Jagex. However, JMods will still be closely overseeing the competition to ensure correct decisions are made and that the tournament is run as they would like it to be.
Being player-run naturally creates limitations for the Clan Cup...
PvP & Combined Cups
These will be running without many changes to past. PvP will be held in the gamer's grotto purple portal rather than Rated Clan Wars to facilitate some areas of rule enforcement.
Being players, we are unable to directly track all the kills a clan performs over a week. Therefore, participants must upload videos of their best kills on YouTube. Clan leaders will choose the best videos for their clan and submit them to the Cup organisers at the end of each week.
As we also cannot check gear and count the amount of kills performed over a certain period of time, competitions will mostly be solo speed-runs, with some exceptions.
Players cannot track the xp timeframe required for the Skilling Cup, we can also not provide against the use of bonus xp or other forbidden methods. Therefore, we have decided not to host a Skilling Cup this year to avoid disappointing participants with an overly complex competition.
Despite these inconvenient compromises we've had to make to hold the Cup this year, we hope the competitions will remain as enjoyable as ever. Good luck everyone -
