If you haven't finished Desperate Times yet, this might have a very big spoiler for you, so before going ahead, let's throw in a proper
Spoiler Alert.

But with that out of the way, for those that did have finished the quest, you could see two crucial points.
1 - Kerapac tells that the next step of his plan lies in a place named Orthen. Orthen is the first Dragonkin settlement on Gielinor, before they colonized places around Forinthry. Orthen is also the place where Robert the Strong went to be the first mortal to ever slay a Dragonkin. He says orthen was east of where they were (Dragonkin Laboratory)
2 - At the end of the quest, Kerapac went towards a storm in the east. His point of departure was the Piscatoris Hunter Area.

And with today's digsite update, two more crucial points came to light!
3 - A mysterious storm cloud has appeared north and slightly east of the digsite. This storm cloud was not there yet before today's update.
4 - In a new house in the Digsite, one of the workers talks about an expedition going across the sea, wanting to commission the barges to go northward across the ocean. They call the island they wanted to go to TIFKAFI, or also known as Fossil Island.

Following these four points, I think it's safe to assume that Orthen = Fossil Island, and that the next Sixth Age quest will start in, or include the new Digsite in order to get there?

Orthen doesn't have to be an island, let alone Fossil Island, just like The Shadow Reef doesn't have to be, and is not, The Arc... and not even on the surface of Gielinor. ;)

That was already properly elaborated in the quest's narrative. Yeah, it is an island.

For those who are still guessing or hoping... let's me give you something more to think about:

The shadowish island on the RS3 map is east of NORTH of High Wildy, above the gate...

The OSRS Fossil Island is east of mid Wildy...

OK. Now you may comment or keep guessing... or hoping... ;)

Osrs and rs3 hold no lore or geographical association to each other. So comparisons between the two games weigh nothing.

So a RS3 island not named Fossil Island and is not on the same location of the Fossil Island in the OSRS version of Gielinor "is" Fossil Island?????

Why don't you tell me a tropical island near the equator = the North Pole? :D:D:D:D:D:D

As a matter of fact, Fossil Island actually originally RS3 content... It was first teased when the Varrock Museum came out, over 10 years ago, and over the course of years was hinted to be a dragonkin related place. In 2015 it was also being polled which area they should make, where another area (menaphos) clearly got a bigger demand. OSRS simply took their own interpretation of it, but that doesn't mean that the OSRS variation is the cannon intended version and/or location. I have no idea if, given by your posts, you're trolling or not, but given that you've been playing this game for at least 13 years now, I would've assumed you would know.

Also, speaking of locations, keep in mind that OSRS is older than RS3, and so many locations OSRS utilized are no longer available. For example, OSRS doesn't have Deamonheim. So anything that WOULD be near that location, no longer can.

I wouldn't have believed you if they hadn't updated the digsite area.

IT'S HAPPENING BOYS.

the dragonkin ties to fossil island in osrs pretty much seal the deal. For reference, in OSRS there's "Fossil Island" as the main island with an overgrown dragonkin lab on it, and "Lithkren", a formerly dragonkin-inhabited island off its coast.

Much like OSRS's take on Prifddinas, we can probably expect some similarities, but not necessarily the same look or content contained within. We're basically a diverged timeline, to put it simply. Think Warlords of Draenor in WoW.

Even outside OSRS's contribution, Fossil Island was already famed to be a dragonkin location in RS3. We just never got to see it before OSRS released it.

Yeah sorry meant the Ark. Same poll though.

But YES, it was hinted to be part of Dragonkin lore/association. A lore livestream in 2012 even confirmed so. Source: youtube, /watch?v=WQg_xYVKQJY

Jagex announced the new island will be Anachronia, definitely not Orthen, Fossil Island, Isda whatever.

Jagex's in game lore from Charos also indicated Ortha = First in Dragonkin langugae. Orthen = First City. There is also no Dutch in Gilinor.

Likewis, Jagex showed clearly with facts that Bob is not Zaros, at leat he is definitely not Zaros in RS3. One may still think Zaros is the dead because of Bob the dead OSRS cat

But shrug! I can't help as there is no lore whatsoever regarding even the name of Fossil Island or Bob being Zaros in the game. Others can think whatever they want to think but it is all the content we players enjoy that counts. We know Anachronia comes with
new skilling activities
, jungles and shores and earth shaking dinosaurs but not swamps and tiny mushroom midgets, That's all matter and seem very promising already. :)

There have been plenty (many) instances where original Dragonkin names were translated/renamed to modern names, either because the name was too old/primal, or simply forgotten. Too many instances to refute that Anachronia is Orthen in modern namesake.
