There have been plenty of menaphite roleplays in the past. I myself have rp'd as pharaoh of menaphos and just because the city is in game now doesn't mean we ignore rp history and take it away from its current owners. The kharid group will be coming out with a way to handle menaphos. I for one do not support it being a hub which will kill the atmosphere. Making it a hub will most certainly mean a ton of non-native characters dicking around menaphos. Just wait til the Kharid group makes their announcement instead of pouncing onto the city with the hub fad.

Thank you! Everyone wants to put their opinion in, which is great, but none of them consider the actual group that has had the claim to it for a long while now. We are not some group of inexperienced roleplayers that have no idea what we are doing. Kharidia is constructed of many well-versed roleplayers and lore junkies, we are not going to destroy it.

One could argue claims shouldn't exist nowadays, but Kharidia does role-play there so I suppose it's moot to say otherwise.

I don't think it really matters either way, it's all make-believe anyways. If someone's character "owns" Mena, and you don't like it, then that's up to you.

I mean come on, multiple people have "owned" the same place, and some have used places to landscale. If someone wants to RP pharaoh, whether they are alone or not, who's to say they can't?

I thought Hubs and PoKs didn't prevent freelance, what's wrong with Non-natives having fun in Menaphos?

Also, if you read the thread you would see that I said I didn't want a hub. I don't want any big thing to organize over Menaphos. Leave Menaphos to be a pure Freelance and small group center for RP. If I had it my way, I wouldn't want any thread for Menaphos to be made, ever, at all.

The Kharid group will be running Menaphos with a royal court council right now. The Pharaoh is an NPC, but the royal court will function as a council running the ins and outs of the city. The court will squabble and backstab naturally. The gates to Menaphos are open to outsiders however they are treated with extreme xenophobia and will be confiscated of all weapons and runes upon arrival. Smuggling such things in or finding the black market may help alleviate such issues for the unarmed.

Remember the people of Menaphos do not like outsiders and to make the atmosphere lore friendly foreigners will be treated as such. We will be coming up with a way for outsiders to gain the trust of people in the future. For now if you have any questions ask at our official forums here.

Personally while I believe the current people running Kharidia are competent, well-respected roleplayers, I must voice a certain amount of concern here. I don't think any final decisions on Menaphos should be made until AFTER we know what happens in the final quests. These could be extreme game changers and I feel that to institute a council without knowing what is going to happen in 'Phite Club is a foolish move. My feelings on the council as an idea is neutral. On the one hand, I believe it would be an interesting and fun rp aspect, but at the same time I don't believe in rs history there has ever been a leader as important to lore as the Pharaoh. The closest you could get would be Drakan or King Lathas, but neither of them were so politically involved as the Pharaoh of Menaphos. So if I had to offer advice on that front, I would say that a council is not a horrible idea, but it should not be a large part of rp in Menaphos. The council should be used sparingly and only for either major plots (which should, for obvious reasons, not change the entire political dynamic of Menaphos. If at the end of all these quests Menaphos is still at odds with Al-Kharid then lets keep it that way) or for dealing with issues/questions people actively participating in rp within the city have. These would be things like basic laws. In a way, I feel like in reality the pharaoh would keep most of the power to himself, making the council a group of figureheads with little real influence, but then again that might change at the end of the quest series, so like I said.. lets wait and see how it plays out before making any huge decision.

Little Edit: Vanescula was an extremely politically involved leader, but that's also why you don't see anyone trying to make Mory or Darkmeyer into a POK (Last time I checked at least) and ruling in her stead, though having different vampyre houses makes that a bit easier lore wise, since each can be their own little sect with their own customs and rules.
