Hi would it be possible to just outright block alt accounts on the forums?

Without naming and shaming its becoming increasingly apparent that more and more people are using alts to;
1. Harass other forumers.
2. Subvert bans on their other accounts.

Iĺm not accusing all alt users of this behaviour, some forumers have exemplary behaviour. But the ones who are being disruptive have frankly ruined it for everyone else.

The forums need cleaning up.
Theyĺve become really toxic lately.

And what would your 300 IQ suggestion be to block alts? "Revenge...is like a rolling stone, which, when a man hath forced up a hill, will return upon him with a greater violence, and break those bones whose sinews gave it motion."- Jeremy Taylor

Well that got snarky quickly..
Just for reference
Stephen Hawking (IQ ľ 160)
Albert Einstein (IQ ľ 160 ľ 190)
Judit Polgar (IQ ľ 170)
Philip Emeagwali (IQ ľ 190)
Garry Kasparov (IQ ľ 194)

I'm not saying there's any one perfect solution for blocking alts, but it should at least be looked into.

Block access from their Ip's / email addresses for a start, yes I know this won't stop the most dedicated of trolls but it would at least hinder them somewhat.

I don't know anything about computers but it seems that every time I experience a power failure, my IP address gets reset. So all any naughty person need do is switch their Router off to circumvent an IP ban.

As for the 'trolls' themselves .... well, it takes two to tango. If someone is getting your goat and you retaliate then they will continue to do it even more. So, institute your very own Banhammer System. If a poster (be it an alt or a main) is actually breaking a forum rule then report it, otherwise totally ignore the creature that is being so vexatious.

If you don't feed a troll, it'll die (so I hear). If everyone ignores those whom they consider toxic then the 'trolls' will look very silly only having one of their own alts ...... or themselves .... to argue with and talk to :)

I certainly agree Fifi what you mentioned is definitely the best way to deal with trolls from a person to person perspective. (Ignore & Report) :)

The issue with alts though is they essentially make Reporting meaningless, as they incur bans only to be back moments later, disguised as someone else.

The main problem is people seeing others get away with what their doing, so they join in. Creating this negative culture that's tarnishing the Forums.

Hello CSSkye

Please do not create threads that are targeted at individuals or groups of people.
It is not against the rules to post on an alt, as long as all posts on all accounts are complying with the forum rules. If you believe any account is rulebreaking, please post on Forum Help so that the situation can be reviewed.
