Firstly, I realise that Jagex as a company wants to use social media to branch out to potential new players, which is great, however can...

JMods not be allowed to post content only on social media (such as teasers for upcoming updates)?

- These things
should
only be shared on the forums, or the RS homepage.
- Threads such as this should not need to be posted by players on Jagex' own platform

JMods and players alike get easier access to these forums.

- Remove that awful forum timeout.
- Remove the post time limit.
- Maybe, different log in details required to enter the forums, so that we can have a 'remember my log in details' feature, like most social media has, while still keeping the game and account settings details secure

Bring back Jagex Support to the forums - as in stop using Twitter for all that.

- Make players use the forums to get their assistance with issues.
- Make staff members respond on the forums, instead of on Twitter.

Make the forums 'cleaner'.

- Reduce the amount of subsections on these forums. There's far too many and there's no need for some of them to remain..
- Remove the Gold Members 2017 forum already?
- Remove the Invention forum. It's old and there's no need to keep it.
- Remove the NXT forum?
- Remove 'HLF Feedback' - it has been admitted that JMods don't even look here. Lee was directed to this thread with the current active HLF community wanting it removed, but was ignored.

Allow the forums more customization.

- Let users upload their own forum avatar
- Let users close/lock their own threads
- Let the opening post of a thread not have a 2000 character limit, or thread owners of guides/help threads are allowed to remove that stupid spoiler on images, to show a banner or something
- Remove that spoiler banner. It's awful.

Introduce more features.

- Let users be able to 'follow' someone, so they can track when that person has posted and check it out
- Let users be able to tag other users, to notify them of something
- Let users be able to provide a short description under their thread title, so those browsing the forums can read that without/before opening a thread
- Increase the thread title character limit
- Increase the post character limit
- If the character limit isn't increased, at least let the BBCode not count towards the limit. This is a huge pain for those who are trying to make guides
- Add in a table feature
- Add in a bullet point feature

There's probably a lot more that could be added, and I'll keep updating this when I remember/think of things.

I would
love
to hear any and all feedback to things I've said <3

Some JMods already said a couple of times that the forum isn't on their priority list, with mobile on the horizon. Having the player support over here instead of on twitter can be tricky: If you cannot log into the game or website, having such an external (and mobile) way could come in handy. I am also thinking of DM/IM the person in dire need of help. Makes it easier.

I agree with most of the stuff listed, especially these would be helpful in reviving the forums:

But I disagree with this:

Jagex did a pretty awful job with the 2017 premier club, by not even bothering to finish a Q&A that they bothered to start, so the least they could do to compensate for all that mess, is to let those of us who paid for that failure to have a permanent subforum to ourselves. > )

I assume you don't have the 2018 Gold Members? Because Osborne, and a few others answered some of the questions from the 2017 Q&A in the 2018 forums, and from looking at their responses, they'll continue to respond to more from the 2017 forum, on the 2018 forum. :O

You're right, I don't have it, and if what you say is true, then it's a pretty scumbag move from them to require buying the next year's premier club to get answers for the past year's questions which were not delivered on time. > /

I know it's a long shot to get them to do it, but if you could ask them to post those answers on the 2017 subforum as well, it'd be greatly appreciated. (Also, sorry for this going off-topic.)

I'd love to, but sadly the thread they answered in is locked to JMod responses only... :(

Osborne is on the RS Discord server, so maybe I can poke him there to post them in the 2017 forum as well ^_^

A lot of companies out there use social media (such as Twitter) to offer support to their customers. In terms of customer support I think it would be a bad move to cease providing support via Twitter. I think many of us have developed a mindset that if we have an issue regarding a company, whatever it may be, to search for their social media first. I needed to get in touch with a holiday-ing a few months ago and it honestly never crossed my mind to search their website - I went straight to their Twitter page instead.

Twitter is unique as a support platform. You can use it to directly ask your question without having to go through FAQ articles. That's just what the majority of people would prefer doing. Additionally helpers can come in and signpost customers to the right place. It works well enough with the Community Helper initiative.

I'd rather see Jagex stick to answering and resolving tickets than be publicly answering questions on the forums. If a problem has an easy solution somebody can signpost them. If a problem has a difficult solution we can point players to the right contact button. If a problem has an unknown solution we can bring it to the attention of the support team ourselves.

I don't know about you though, Adam, but I certainly wouldn't like to be told that I "have to use the forums" if Twitter if my preferred option :P

Having said all that, though, I would definitely like to see increased activity on the forums. Should all content be posted about on the forums? If there's a vote on it sure. If it's a teaser then I don't really know to be honest...
