Mrs Anasaid: Southeastersaid: Unless... we find a way to let Fmods serve as a check on each other. That might work. I ought to give that some more thought. If I am not mistaken, I am safe to assume that, since we have PMod Mentors, there are FMod Mentors, correct? If that's the case, these FMod Mentors should be the ones checking on other FMods, if they choose to take upon the role, of course, and if it were even offered by Jagex. The oldest FMods I can recall that are still active are
. These FMods outlived most, if not, all Community Management Jagex Moderators. I mean, they have been highly and undoubtedly entrusted with the crown and they have done an outstanding and incomparable performance while on voluntary duty.
With that being said, I believe that FMods as old as Tuffty and Tren here should take the reigns into keeping a check on other FMods. Well, since we aren't FMods we do not know how exactly it works behind the scenes, but one can be hopeful. Obviously, this is apparently the job of the LMods who haven't gotten their JMod accounts, but here we are looking for alternatives.
You were correct in your assumption of F-Mod Mentors. Sadly the F-Mod Mentors were abolished some years ago. I was part of that team then. Our roll was only to train New F-Mods and guide them along.
Having F-Mods check on other F-Mods in the way you sugguest will not work. F-Mods can't see the Review thread content. To be able to see it F-Mods would need a Jagex account and thats something that won't happen. The L-Mods have been waiting for months for their's.
Good suggestion but sadly something I think will not happen.
For the record Tren and I have been here since Wednesday May 4th 2005. The 2 oldest F-Mods left.
Wolfblue42said: Think Wilf's idea to make FMR public viewed so Lmods can see FMR reports and act on them would work for now. Make a new Fmr v3 thread if needed.
Then they'd have 6 able bodies compared to 4 to deal with FMR. Having Forum Help viewable is bad enough for the forum stalkers. To have the Review thread viewable too once a report it made would or could cause even more stalking.
I'm not a huge fan of making the review thread open to viewing by the public.
It may also cause upset or distress to the poster knowing the F-Mod being reported can read it. They may claim victimisation against them if say a F-Mod posts something.
Yes I know the temptation to read FMR would be there if made public view. I recall back when Kalaya made her big forum feedback thread and told fmods to stay out except modding some fmods still commented in it socially despite being told stay out. Them being in the thread was not well liked and they got chewed out for it by thread posters.
Once you tell someone not to look they will look no matter what.
I really want to say something here and it's times like these where I so want an alt account...
So I'll try and hope I do not upset anyone.
I like FMR and so do the team. But when it gets misused and it does, It's hard work. It needs to be used right all the time. Making reports on there has to comply with post 1. Some people not all just a few post to discredit F-Mods. Now I don't take things personal and I never will. But if there were less of that then Mod Meadows would have more time for the correct reviews.
I've worked alongside many many Forum Curators in my time here since May 4th 2005 Wednesday 10.30pm. Yes I won't forget that date.
I've worked alongside,
Mod Peter. Mod Dave. Mod Paul M. Mod Jon H. Mod Burgess. Mod Craddock. Mod Timbo. Mod MMH. Mod Emile. Mod Poppy. Mod Chrisso. Mod Shusi pi. There were many many others. They came and went all the time.
They are just a few I can remember off the top of my head. I do have to say though and I mean this that Mod Meadows is close to the top of the list around No 2.
I still have a soft spot for Mod Poppy. She helped me so much when I really needed it. (Can't say what but her help helped me a lot)
I'm lead to beleive it can be used for forum mutes. But if it's for 24 hours, 48 hours then it might not be worth filling in as the mute maybe over before the appeal. If it's for longer then it could be worth it.
I have no idea how that link works as I've never had to use it so I'm winging it here and just letting you know at one time it could be used for forum mutes.
It does say this on the link.
