It's an open source third party client and that means a hacker can put a code there to purposely log your info and steal your account and items if you install his client from a random website! You may be banned or not from using it but it's your own risk to do so! My goals and achievements on F2P accounts! ---> Thread! <---

I just don't understand why people on the forums seem to negatively view the client while 99% of the people you meet in-game use it. I mean if 30% of OSRS community uses it then fuck what happens if I get hacked too no? There might be a bias here because people who use forums are probably more risk-averse. By the way I strongly appreciate your opinion thank you.

Basically, if you use 3rd party client software you do so at your own risk.

While Jagex will not ban you for using a 3rd party client, using anything other than the official client not only puts your account at risk, but your computer as well.

As such, you and you alone are responsible for anything that happens when using a 3rd party client like RuneLite. If you're not prepared to deal with the risks involved, I'd stick with the official client.

Right that makes perfect sense because the 3rd party devs are not affiliated with Jagex. Tbh I'm not that worried about putting my account at risk because of authentificator, but I can't afford to expose my computer to viruses and such. I'll probably stick to the official client, but I'll surely advocate for better plugins in the official client. Jagex should definitely catch up and exploit the opportunity instead of letting competition (3rd party) gain the competitive advantage.

It's not worth the risk.

Jagex (as any major company would) hate for players to be hacked through third party software being used with their game.

It creates a problem with liability and potentially losing your account. It also primes Jagex for some potentially nasty legal troubles including additional problems that could come forward from people installing third party programs for the sake of playing a modded or tool-assisted Runescape.

I can understand where they're coming from with this. They don't want to deal with the problems that programs like RuneLite would create.

I would argue that a solution to this would be to offer to buy RuneLite as an official Runescape add-on or program to be used in tandem with the game, but I'm not sure if Jagex has ever tried anything like that.

To add-on, I believe that jagex/osrs dev must stand up for their values, to differentiate what's acceptable instead they chose to let these run rampant.

I appreciate your neutral opinion and very objective approach to advocating for better OFFICIAL client, because, certain improvement IS not only a right of service, but also commitment to excellence & integrity to their game.
