I have a question that surprisingly I canít seem to find a straight answer from Jagex. The question is ďIs it against the rules to transfer your RS3 money to OSRS?Ē. Iíve looked at a bunch of forums and everyone says the same thing: just do it because they canít stop you and you worked hard for your gp so it isnt cheating. Although I somewhat agree with those statements, to some degree I canít help but feel like it is somewhat sketchy to bring your RS3 ingame wealth into OSRS.

I have played runescape for over 10 years and loved every minute of it. When the divide between OSRS and RS3 happened I stuck with RS3 not because I liked it better than OSRS but because it had kept all of the hours and hard work I put into it. With OSRS Iíd be losing all of that. When OSRS mobile was announced I decided to make a character a week before it was released for IOS. At first it was just a meme, but by the time I got off tutorial island I remembered what I loved and missed so much about the game. It didnt take long for me to hop onto OSRS permanently and abandon my RS3 character even though it has all of my accomplishments from a time span of over 5 years. It already sucks that I lost all that progress, however if Jagex were to allow the transferring of RS3 wealth to OSRS that would make the blow hurt less. I donít plan on transferring my wealth because it is still in the gray area of whether or not itís allowed and I pride myself on being an extremely fair player. So if anyone could answer my question of provide me a link to an official statement by Jagex or a JMod, that would be great so I can put this topic to rest.

Thatís the thing though, there is no explicit rule stating that bringing RS3 wealth into OSRS is wrong. The closest thing I found was that player run ďgames of chanceĒ such as trust trades are against the rule. But Iím not sure if such a transfer is seen as a game of chance, more like a service. I wish it would just be addressed directly by Jagex or a JMod because I know Iím not the only one wondering about this. And the warning about being scammed is great and all but in reality Iíve lost all desire to play RS3, so getting scammed wouldnít really desensitize me from continuing to play OSRS. Obviously Iíd rather not get scammed though. :P

I've gone over the terms and conditions, as well as the rules of Runescape.

There is no rule against doing this. In other words, it's allowed. However, be mindful that:
1) Runescape and OldSchool Runescape have different economies, thus 2b in RS3 is not equivalent to 2b in OSRS, and;
2) Any trade of this nature will be a trust trade and you are likely to be scammed, thus it's not advisable.

I think you'd struggle to find someone who has OSRS wealth, willing to trade it for RS3 wealth. Narrowing that down further by people that won't abuse the trade, you leave yourself quite vulnerable.
Even if you say you don't care about your RS3 wealth and would still play OSRS, I'd advise against going through with this plan.

If you need some starting money on OSRS, I don't mind giving you some.
A very special snowflake.

Swapping gp between the games is not against the rules, but is a very, very risky thing to do.

Unless you are swapping with trusted family members or friends where you are certain you know where the gp you are receiving came from, you run the risk of being given gp that has been stolen from other accounts and/or RWTed.

If it looks as though you received the gp as part of a RWT deal, at best, the gp may be removed from your account, but worse case your account may be banned for RWT (and you cannot appeal a RWT ban). Steer well clear of gold swapping websites and clans that offer gold swapping 'services'.

Really, the best thing is to not to swap gp between the games. It's not worth the risk.
Glad to be of service :) (Powered by GPPô - Share and Enjoy!)

I appreciate the offer, but Iím a bit weird when it comes to just accepting money or help from people. Reason I was giving the whole RS3 to OSRS money transfer a second thought was because I worked for my RS3 gp. I donít want to just accept money without having worked for it. Surprisingly Iíve already had numerous people offer me money in OSRS, but I dont take it because I donít see it as fair. Although with work and now having less time to play Iím beginning to think i should start accepting the money.
