Hey Lore Discussion

As you may know, we are currently graphically updating Seers' Village.

The Seers don't have much lore attached to them (unless I am mistaken) and it would be nice to flesh them out a bit more with this update.

What are your thoughts? What is their history? Where did they come from? What is the focus of the Seers Council? Do they use anything to help them see the future?

Thanks everyone for the information and speculation so far.

To add my thoughts and to try to actually set some lore in place,
(I am by no means a lore expert, so go easy on me when correcting my errors :P)

* I feel like the Seers should be Fremmenik in origin.

* Possible reasons they moved to the area was out of fear that their 'magic' would be punished after the discovery of rune essence and the resulting tensions. Or maybe they just saw the future and knew they should go settle there?

* With their focus on the future they lost their Fremmenik traditions over time.

* Whilst the Seers may be Guthixian, they perhaps allowed the building of the church and allowed other cultures into the village because they again saw a future where cultures had to coexist.

* The Seers could have potentially told the Sinclair family to build the castle as they foresaw the arrival of King Arthur and told them that in return they would house a powerful ally who would protect their lands from all threats.

* In terms of the look of the village, we are going with it being slightly run down. As the council are constantly looking into the future, they aren't thinking about the problems in the present and therefore don't upkeep their buildings too well until they are really needed.

When I have more time later today I will write up something longer, but for now I just wanted to make a few points.

* We have no plans to remove King Arthur from the game. Whilst some don't really like that he is there, others do. According to Mod Osborne, it was previously polled and people voted to keep in. Also the value for all that work would be minimal and much better put elsewhere.

* In terms of delivering lore, we may look at adding a 'History of Seer's Village' book to the council house, but mainly would like the lore to shine through in the architecture and general look of the place.

Thanks everyone for the discussion so far. Several things have come up so not had much time to push this any further. Think I shall discuss with our lore council some of the more up in the air points for a bit more direction, then maybe we can start laying down some actual facts.

I think that a history of seer's village book would be interesting, if written all out of order as some entries have been added before they have happened?

Yes, we would like to update the dialogue of the Seers, maybe even give them all unique names.

Feel free to suggest names and questions you would like to ask them. Probably best if names are punny or whimsical.
