Hello fellow runescape players!
I've come back to runescape after taking a year off. I used to use the authentication on my phone to login, but since when i used to play ive gotten a new phone, but still use the same google account and whatnot, but the authentication app doesnt link devices using the email, so ive tried to disable the authentication on my account and was successful in sending the email, clicking the link, and getting confirmation that the authentication on my account was disabled. It was not. I've done this several times and it has finally stopped me from clicking the disable authentication option. I've also reset my password, but that didnt reset authentication either. Send help.

Hi villian2000.

I've moved your thread to the Community Led Account Help forum where it will be easier to get you the advice you need.

It sounds as though you have more than one account there. If you created the account via the Google Play Store, and normally log in via the Google button, logging in using the same email address and a password does not necessarily log you in to the same Runescape account.

Are you logging in to the game with the Google button, or login name + password.

Are you logging into the website Account page with the Google button, or login name + password.
Glad to be of service :) (Powered by GPP™ - Share and Enjoy!)

I'm experiencing a similar problem as above. I need to disable my authenticator because I'm getting a new phone since my last one completely died. It sends the email and gives me the link, but then when I click the confirm button, it tells me there was an error or the link is not valid.

I've tried logging in both ways, the google account button AND typing login info. I get the same result, and now it's blocking me from trying for too many failed attempts. Unless I can disable the auth, I literally can't access my account. Any ideas?

How do you usually log in to your account? e.g. via pc or via mobile
Those fixes should work if you usually log in via pc.
Have you waited out the "too many failed attempts" block time (one hour).

If you usually log in via mobile the only thing I can suggest is that you might have not identified your account correctly. Is the 'disable Authenticator' email addressed to your correct account?

The last possibility is that the Jagex system for disabling Authenticator is down (has happened) but this would affect anybody trying to disable Authenticator, not just one account.

I have never once logged in on a mobile device. I usually log into my account by going to the game client, type my email and password, and log in with the code from my authenticator.

I will wait out the 1 hour time block, but last time I tried, it did not work.

If you are getting the "expired link" error message and you are clicking on the link straight away so that it couldn't possibly be expired, it means there is a technical issue - your computer isn't talking to the Jagex computer.

The tech fixes I posted above should fix the "expired link" issue.
