The addition of the Runescore hiscore is nice and all, but let's be honest, the achievements are a mess from a F2P point of view. And this is all caused by the membership requirement rapidly slapped on them.

There are:

- Achievements that can be completed by F2P, but are tagged as members-only. The only way for F2P to get these done is by trying them. Completing post-quest content are all part of this. Even more recent achievements like 'Jack of Blades' have the membership requirement on them for whatever reason despite being advertised as F2P content.

- Achievements that cannot be completed by F2P, despite being doable. Membership is enforced to complete these. Examples being 'A bolt from the blue' and 'Do they come in other colours?'. Add that with above and it becomes a full trial and error on what can be done and what cannot be done because the whole membership requirements says nothing anymore.

- Achievements that are F2P, but cannot be completed by F2P. Prime example being the 'King Black Dragonling' which requires 99 summoning. They may be completed in F2P worlds if the player meets the reqs, but still questionable why F2P.

Sure having membership solves the problem, but that should never be used as an excuse to keep it this messy.

For that, I suggest to completely remove the membership requirements on achievements. What can be completed is then limited by what the player can and cannot do, including the worlds they can play on. Hence achievements that requires members-only interaction are 'still locked' to P2P only.

What will this results in?

- Less work for Jagex. No need to check and tag achievements for membership or not.
- Proper sense of completion / consistency for F2P. Sure F2P still have a list of uncompleted achievements doable in P2P worlds, but that's where the subscribe button is for.
- Nothing grand will change. F2P still won't be able to fully complete any achievement set but Lumbridge / Draynor.

There is no reason to check for membership on achievements.

Members achievements already have the requirement of being members because the activities in order to unlock the achievements are members only.

As for the rest, they should be f2p, as they're already f2p content. This isn't complicated.

This isn't giving f2p anything other than credit for what they can already complete.


Given that there are new achievements coming up, I wouldn't be surprised to see more F2P doable achievements redundantly limited to members-only for whatever reason. Hence the given suggestion is here to tackle that issue, as explained before.

EDIT: Achievement Bonanza is live, and once again more F2P doable achievements are tagged as members-only. Stop this, please.

To be honest: I think to be able to see whether you're able to complete an achievement or not is a good thing. And if membership is preventing you from gaining it, the achievement should tell you this directly. It will only cause more work for players to evaluate whether they can do certain things or not, when not being told by the game. It may cause some more work, but it should be done.

I do fully agree they should fix existing bugged ones (p2p despite f2p and f2p despite p2p is relatively clear). The third one is more a former member thing and I'd suggest a different approach: The achievement should still tell the player it will need membership, but can be completed in f2p if the part requiring membership is already completed, when they drop back to f2p).

You choose to be f2p so you miss out on most things.

Err... sounds more like OP is trying to ask for fixes on buggy or messy achievements rather than asking for more fp content for the sake of more f2p content.

The only change will be for achievements that need membership to complete while free-to-play should be able to do them (like the achievement that wants you to enter the dungeon from A Soul's Bane after completeing the quest requiring membership even though the quest and the dungeon are completely free-to-play).

Maybe they should have said that then instead of just blatantly asking for all achievements to be f2p...

Yes i agree that the f2p enabled ones might be in some need of a fix, but i dont support adding more things to f2p.

Obviously anything that requires membership to be done / reached is technically locked to members only because those can only be done on members-only worlds. Perhaps like 5, maybe 6, achievements would be new for F2P, and again nothing grand will change as mentioned before.

Sure we can ask Jagex to actually fix the few affected achievements here and there, but given how they have failed more recent achievements (such as 'Jack of Blades'), this problem is likely to occur again in the future. Hence the given suggestion to simply avoid all of that.
