An Apology

We recently discussed some changes to the way that this forum was being moderated. To summarise those changes, we had been asked to clarify our stance on creating multiple threads. In most other areas of the forums, we do not allow players to make more than one thread per topic, so it was decided to extend that rule to here.

However, based on your feedback – it is clear that by extending the rule to this forum, we have negatively affected some groups who contribute to our forum community. We failed to consider that these new threads are created on the basis that the information changes (and therefore needs a new thread) each week, and the long history that these groups have with the forums. Indeed, some of these communities (specifically World60Pengs) have now moved to their own subreddits – we wish them luck with their new homes!

We are sorry. The application of the rule did not encourage an open forum environment, and we would like to apologise for any confusion, inconvenience, and distress we may have caused. We will hold our hands up and admit that we made a mistake, and that with our proposed new forum rules, we will ensure this does not happen again.

Under the proposed new ruleset, we would permit D&D communities to create new threads whenever necessary, provided the threads were being used to share new information (like new penguin locations).

Whilst we know that the damage may already be done, we hope that by restoring flexibility for D&D communities, the forums may – once again – be a useful place to share information.

Thank you. Although it doesn't really affect most of us, acknowledging your mistake late is better than not at all.

I hope that the CM team is willing to move in a positive direction, as with all those involved with past and present situations regarding this forum section community, and possibly even help out several FCs who have contributed to the community for years. It has always seemed like we've been invisible to the CM team. With some of the JMod events, why not have them co-hosted with existing FCs. It would bring a lot of people together, and help with advertising these FCs and show that we have the support of the CM team.

Possibly, also updating the FSR that has been proposed by the community for the past few years, as it hasn't been updated since the forum was opened.

Thanks for this balance, and thanks for the advert ;) but while they're still here we have no intention of leaving the forums. I see this place, along with the friends chat, as our ancestral home.

That said, yes we now have a subreddit, which we'll be running as an additional service along with the forum thread(s) and the world60pengs friends chat.

Thank you for the apology.

I will hope that this will lead to a greater openness in future. Also, that Community management and Jagex as a whole will begin to understand that the biggest reason many of us return to the game on a regular basis is the community and that the community exists beyond PVP clans.

I would hope that individuals who were affected by this on both sides receive an apology individually. I would ask that players who made rude threats to individual Mods apologise as well as Mod 's make some individual apologies to players.

Let's start taking the Chris Pratt route of saying sorry and taking ownership for mistakes, set an example for the world.

Thank you!

Finally a step in the right direction and no doubt one that will be appreciated by many who were affected by this whole fiasco. I would have to agree that a lot of damage was done and it will take some time to heal and regain trust.

Nevertheless, may this be the beginning of a far more open, supportive, aware, positive and inclusive RS community. Where good and fair communication between the players, JMods and FMods is not just a side thought but rather a core component in all future decisions.
