Holy gnomey Jagex somehow you did it, you made the greatest Grandmaster Quest since While Guthix Sleeps in RS3. I still think there's only four quests in RS3 I could consider Grandmaster worthy (WGS, Nomad, Birthright of the Dwarves, and questionably Brink of Extinction), but only WGS was nearly as long as Monkey Madness II and only Nomad had a fight that was comparable, although I think Nomad was a lot easier than mother-flipping-Glouph. Mainly because I died and lost like 7m worth of gear, but that's the life of less-casual oldschool.

Anyway Monkey Madness II had it all: lots of fights that did an obscene amount of damage to you, extremely long tedious obstacles and a section that puts rat catchers to shame, and on top of all that a better-than-expected story with some twists. Finishing this quest before I did any other major one like DT or Mournings End 2 is giving me renewed motivation to get a quest cape, and none of those quests are nearly as difficult.

But my favorite part had to be Nieve following me through the Gnome Stronghold while I killed tormented gorillas and players 20 combat levels higher than me going "wtf." I didn't think I'd be this happy with an update for Runescape again in my life, but Monkey Madness II is exactly what I wish all of RS3 was: pure awesome.

I liked the story a lot and some of the parts, but the actual quest itself was very poor. There were at least 3 parts in the quest where you literally had absolutely no idea what you were supposed to do. The NPC's didn't give any hints, they said to just figure it out for yourself. This made the quest very unfun to do without any guides. In fact I had to wait for other people to show me or tell me how to do it (I did this on the first day). This is terrible game design. The quests should at all times have a goal in mind, and the story does not count. You should have an objective you know to reach. For example, when you were supposed to find the hidden trapdoor in the jungle grass and trees there was no way of knowing this. No hints, no idea. You were supposed to wander around aimlessly for what could be hours to find this stupid hidden door that had no clues (that I know of). It totally lacks objective.

I completely disagree, a game's downfall is when they hold your hand too much. This quest did it perfectly: no handholding, just like old Runescape. I miss the days when even the Lumbridge Guide didn't exist, but I can't live that far in the past so I'll be happy with Monkey Madness 2.

Also you literally get led to the trap door by monkey footprints at the bottom of the western guard hill by the gate.
